Good evening everyone, I will be traveling out to Lincoln for the Purdue game with my wife and brother in law. We all graduated from Purdue but they grew up for most of childhood in Omaha and are still Nebraska fans. I am looking forward to my first trip to Lincoln and Memorial Stadium. My question for the group is where is the best place to tailgate pre-game? Are there better lots to park in without a pass? Are there bars close to pre-game at? Looking for some advice to get the best expierence possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm in the twin cities now, but even when I was in Nebraska that wasn't my scene... I'm just posting to say I hope you have a great experience in every way (except scoreboard, obviously). Other posters will have the info you are seeking.

Tailgating is spread out, you can walk around the stadium area and find many good ones, though under the overpass by west stadium is generally a pretty good scene.

Parking garages and lots are a good option. On the map below public garages are in brown and public lots are in green. Expect to pay $15-$20

For the bar/food scene either hit up O Street (older crowd) or the Railyard (younger crowd) by PBA arena.

For tailgating go up to a good party under the overpass and offer 20 bucks to join them. Tell em your from out of state they will most likely welcome you in. If not try another group. When I hit a game that's what I usually do

Had a similar experience when I went back and visited my grade school 20 years later. The lockers seemed so damn small. Pretty sure they were taller when I was there.
Isn't that amazing? I went back to the rifle range on Camp Pendleton where we stayed in barracks the two weeks we had rifle training. We had "close-order-drill" twice a day then when the platoon marched around in formation for an hour. I remember "the grinder", the asphalt parade ground as being acres and acres big. When I went back I realized it was only about 40 yards by 30 yards, if that.

I parked in the softball field parking lot for the Illinois game and it was some good tailgating. Plus the walk to the stadium takes you right under the overpass where others have mentioned is a good time. So if the softball field isn't cutting it just a short little walk and there are more options! Enjoy the game and GO BIG RED

LOT 7. Across street from stadium, beneath the overpass.
