Another rested team and two practices to prepare.
Gotta figure Pike kept the men off their feet today and will have tomorrow to prepare.

As I said before, it’s next to impossible to figure out when your team will collectively have no legs...we could be jumping out of the gym Tuesday, you just never know.

Exactly why they call the league season a grind. Especially in the B1G. Tough teams up and down the schedule, even more so on the road.

We play more guys for more minutes than most every B1G team. As long as Pikes knows how to throttle practice, it should not be a problem in the days of modern S&C. Now in the days of guys taking cigarette breaks in the tunnel, - or Lloyd Moore hiding cheeseburgers in his that was another story.
I think getting emotially up for each challenge is tough and I think with Pikes we are in good hands there. Winning becomes a habit.

Yeah I’m worried about this game, because it will be our 3rd game in 7 days, and the first two were emotional barnburners. Afraid we’re going to come out flat and/or wilt toward the end.

Not sure what you mean by “we play more guys for more minutes than most every B1G team.” Please elaborate

Then i would look at the minutes logged in the last 2 games and see who had tired legs. And then be prepared to give time to the other guys.

You can’t do that because the guys you determined had tired legs Saturday might feel great Tuesday.

Just my opinion but it looked to me like some of our guys were more mentally fatigued than physically. I saw lots of physical energy and effort but we seemed to have more lapses than anything else.

I think Coach said that they had an NCAA mandated day off on Thursday. So hopefully that helps to keep the guys fresh. I think the fact that 9 guys are playing significant minutes helps as well. I'm not too worried about them being too tired at this point in the season (maybe more so in late February).

I think he means that our rotation is legit 9 deep, and the four backups play a good amount of minutes.

He’s trying to say that our depth and spread out minutes will help us avoid hitting the wall.
Pretty obvious to me too and true as well though I don’t really pay attention to other teams. However, yesterday we had a few guys who played around 30 minutes from what I saw on line and a few only played 12-15. That was atypical for us but we could have some tired legs right now for sure.

Just part of the schedule. Pick will have to adjust the practice time accordingly. We'll be ready at home.

The long grind of the season should favor us since we are the deepest team in the B1G. If our guys are getting tired what about the players on other teams averaging more minutes?

I don't know. Little bit of both for me. They definitely weren't sharp mentally but they just looked to have heavy legs.

I actually asked the guy I sit with if he heard anything about our team having the flu. They just looked very lethargic. And I've seen these guys play every game for several years. They were not themselves.

That’s a good call, heavy legs, what appears to be poor decision making, lack of urgency...call it anything you want, it happens to every team.
See it in hockey on the regular.
Huge feather in our cap to win a game we played “not so great” in

They played Friday night and had to travel vs. us playing Saturday afternoon. I think that's a wash. I'm also not convinced we were "tired" as much as "flat." I think they look similar, but have different root causes and I believe tired can be predicted based on minutes played, whereas flat is much harder to predict (and is often a function of mindset and motivation and I felt that yesterday we were probably just a bit too cocky and disregarding NE). I think we'll be much more energetic (not flat and certainly not tired) on Tuesday.

We called being flat “dead ***”
My dad used to walk down the bench and yell at us for being dead ***...lol

The last 2 games of our season take place after almost a week layoff. That could be very beneficial to us if we need it. Gonna be a grind to get their though.

While Purdue's size and ability to execute will present a serious challenge, I was more worried about this one before the Nebraska game than afterwards. Not overconfident by any means, but I think yesterday's game should have reinforced to our guys that you need to bring energy and effort every night in this league. I would be just as concerned about mental aspect as the physical toll at this point. Hopefully we will be ready to go.

While agree that we rotate, it's also because we play intense D. We need to be deep to play that way. Hopefully a juiced RAC gives us more energy

Gotcha. And I agree with that. Our depth helps us in many ways.

It is time to finally beat them, last time was the Final Four season.
Yes! ..I was a kid, but was at the game at MSG, 81-73 RU. You knew Rutgers was going to be really good that year.
5 years ago we lost by 50 at home..2 years ago we battled them tough at home and MSG..Tuesday, we win. By double digits..

I think we play harder than any team in the B1G. I get tired just watching Young and Mathis work on D.

I think Purdue is best-coached team.

I know people like to blow Izzo, but Painter when you look what he does with his teams and the talent he has. I think he's the best. He's won the league 3 times to Izzo's 9, but again look what he has to work with. I also think Purdue has won most B1G championships out of all the teams.

This one is gonna be a real battle for us. Williams is tough, the big physical type of post player who has give us fits at times. Also streaky three point shooting team and we do give up a lot of uncontested threes.

I see this one as being won by RU in the last minute.

I am seeing some post crop up about days off between games. Look the Big 10 is a grind. Every school will get put into a tougher spot this year. Are we actually worried about playing Saturday and the having to play Tuesday?

...plus, there's no travel involved, so the team gets to keep its normal schedule, sleep in their own beds, etc. They just need to come out strong so there's not so much of a hill to climb in the second half.

I keep seeing this written and I don't get it. In B1G games (which I think we can agree is the best league in the country) Rutgers opponents are shooting 28.8% from three. We are better at defending the three in conference games than everyone except Illinois and Michigan State.

Small sample size? OK. In all games we are allowing 30.4% from three. That is not exactly getting lit up. What am I missing?

the quick Freshman guard on Iowa has his way with both Young and Mathis. the Nebraska guard carried them in second half as well. just saying these guys can be had just like anybody.

3 point % against is an iffy metric regardless
