Erik, a troubling stat is that Stoops hasn't won a single game when UK trails at the half. in 3 years. 25 losses 0-25 when trailing at the half. that is a super telling statistic. no halftime adjustments. no in game adjustments (for the better)

Also he's 1-18 in Oct. & Nov against SEC teams and UofL in his 3 years here.

Can't blame it all on the youth and lack of talent. Major shake up in the Staff has to come Dec. 1!!

There is something going on with the team. Not sure if it's the Towles vs Barker issue, though that's the first thing that comes to mind. Some seem to have quit. IMO, if that's the case, Stoops needs to send them to the house...regardless of their reason for quitting.
Also wonder if there is something personal between Stoops and Barker....though watching Barker throw the td pass (to Vandy) makes you wonder if that's what the coaches see every day at practice.

Agree with staff shake-up. Oline coach needs to go. Do we have a qb coach? If not, get one. If we have one, get another. Need a sp teams coach....that's the reason we don't have players on the field for kicks...there's no single coach responsible for making it happen. As for Dawson, I'd require him to watch videos of Hal Mumme and Mike Leach 15 hours a day.

UPSCat, honestly dude, Stoops has shown NOTHING between the lines. It's his recruiting that I'm optimistic about.

GBB!!!
I feel the same, but there comes a point to where even with better players you can't win in the SEC without great coaching. This is only his 3rd year and I honestly believe we can't completely give up until he has had 5 years atleast, but he is quickly altering my opinion week by week.

ram1955, the fact that UK makes so many mistakes is just unbelievable. You might be right about some things happening behind the scenes.

I mean, some teams will go through the entire 2015 season and not do half the things UK did today.

There were enough mistakes today to fill half a season. Blocked punt, iced our fieldgoal kicker, pick 6, not to mention the dropped passes, failure to cover on d, not scoring from a yard and a half with 4 downs, int in the endzone..... You expect to see mistakes, in fact you might expect to see each of these once, maybe twice a season. But for them all to happen in one game is hard to believe.

*How do you get SACKED on a hail mary when you have time to throw (LOLOLOL). Towles shouldn't play another down of football this season.
GBB!!!

I can still be stunned by this Kentucky team. Not only did Towles get sacked, Vandy only lined up three players on the d-line !!!!!

It's the same damn mistakes over and over by this staff. It's embarrassing
This is the scary and unexplainable part. You keep thinking that after serious mishaps in earlier games that the fans and media crush them over the coaches would all get together and really bear down and get more organized and prepared themselves but with each game they look even more lost and confused. How is that possible given the stakes and scrutiny they know will come? They have to be smarter than that

*Man, wouldn't it have been nice to have that timeout that UK used on a freaking PUNT on that final possession? What a joke.

*How do you get SACKED on a hail mary when you have time to throw (LOLOLOL). Towles shouldn't play another down of football this season.

*3 drops on the first possession cost UK seven. That set the tone for yet another awful night of football.

*1st and goal at the one foot line = no points.

*1st and goal at the two yard line = no points

*Pick six.

*Punt blocked.

*Huge Baker drop on third down (low throw).

*Penalties on multiple punts and punt returns.

*Another 4th and 1 at midfield blown call by Stoops.

*Timeout BEFORE a punt (hahahahahahaha).

*Failed to get lined up for a field goal attempt, took a penalty.

*Missed field goal.

*Fell for one of the oldest trick plays in the sport.

*Love the 2nd and long run game Dawson is developing (hahahahaha).

Overall, the most embarrassing loss in the Stoops era. Kentucky spent all four quarters doing just what they've done all season long, cutting their own throats.

I'm still on the Stoops bandwagon, but he should be absolutely embarrassed tonight. Kentucky made a seasons worth of mistakes in one game, and they've made a lifetime full of mistakes this season. His teams CONSISTENTLY look unprepared and undisciplined.

It's not the players mistakes that are bugging me. It's the mistakes by the coaches. Not making sure they are lined up. Not making sure the team has all the players on the field goal. Calling poor plays in the red zone. Not calling a timeout before halftime. Calling a timeout before a punt. Just on and on. Drops and taking sacks and all that is bad, but doesn't bother me like the coaching

Erik it's like they have not learned from past mistakes in management in the game.

That's what cost us today just poor unreal management of the dang game.

UK may be the only team in college football who could turn a 35-7 win, which is what this game should've been, into a loss.

And look completely silly while doing it. That takes practice, and UK Football has mastered being able to do just that.

Stoops ain't getting fired. Best we can hope for is to get new coordinators and special teams coach.
Recruiting is the only thing Stoops has right now. He better hope and pray they don't bail on him.

Pretty sure we already lost a good OC last year. Look everyone should have known it was bad when CNB left for Troy. CNB knew what was happening and bailed before it got worse.

The nadir of the program tonight. This season is a loss. Even if we win out, we go to the Detroit Ramen Noodle Bowl and play a team like Toledo. We had multiple chances to show what we could do but didn't take advantage of any of them this year.
I'm more than a little frustrated. There weren't a lot of leaders on this team to step up. Someone should've been in everyone's face every mistake.

Stoops certainly doesn't seem to have the ability his brother Bob does. Making mistakes high school coaches don't make.
Gonna be a long two weeks for him and this team.

I wouldn't be optimistic, Stoops is such a bad coach he probably needs a top 5 recruiting class just to make up for his flaws.

Very good summary. I went to the game tonight knowing full well that it could be downright ugly. Arriving from Atlanta latein the second quarter, Vandy (the SEC perhaps?) still required me to have a ticket and would only sell me one for full price, $55. I walked away shaking my head but found a season ticket holder who had an extra. Thankfully, he gave me the ticket, as that was the only way I was getting in, to have one given to me. So, I saw this debacle. In a sea of futility, against woeful Vanderbilt, we went on an error binge. Eric, yes, a good summation of some of the dumbest things witnessed not just this year but ever in one game, and add catching yet another punt INSIDE the 10 yard line to your list. I have no idea why I continue to put my hand in the wood chipper that is Kentucky Football, but like you all, I do. Thankfully again, I have spent ZERO on this team this year and last. That's just good business, and it'll continue that way until the product is much better and a lot less embarrassing. With the money involved, and the contract extension, we are royally screwed, and yes, I'm out of the canoe, off the bandwagon, and prefer another cleaning of the house. This brand of crappy football simply cannot endure.

cats2010, like I said, it's all about recruiting. But I agree with your post. And in three years now, Stoops has been mostly a joke between the lines. Game changing mistakes have become the norm.

GBB!!!

I hate to be Debbie Downer on a forum that is rightfully already full of us haha... But recruiting won't make eff all difference.

It's nice, it's fun, I dig beating out top programs for kids, I like the star rankings. It's how we win in basketball. This great recruiting we've seen in football puts us in the bottom 3rd of the SEC though. We're not recruiting with the top of the SEC, and even if we were bringing in #1 ranked classes instead of mid teens-mid 30's, even if we were truly lighting it up in recruiting, there'd be 4 teams on our schedule right behind us at #2 - #6 ranked classes in the country, and they've got coaches and play callers to go with the talent.

Kentucky must recruit at a higher level like we are under Stoops, but if it means coming with the in game coaching Stoops i bringing to the table, 5-7 years will be the good years, 3-9 and 4-8 more likely. We will simply never recruit at such a level that we can go out there poorly coached against UGA, Tenn, Fla, Bama, LSU, Ole Miss, Miss.St etc.
