Lots of interesting names mentioned in another thread regarding Batavia adding turf this season and the Plainfield's also have begun installing it starting this season...

So which high schools could use field turf the most? Again this isn't a political debate on spending money etc it's a simple question...which schools need turf the most?

MCC, PR, NVHS. Its hard to believe that some schools are going on their 2nd generation of Field Turf and some haven't gotten it yet.

I know they have the flooding problem, but what about Glenbard West?

Bloomington could use it....missed the boat when they redid the stadium in 2010 and again when the track was resurfaced in 2012.

Missed the high school part. In that case, of the places I've seen, its MCC or another civic embarassment .. Hanson Stadium.

Haven't played there in a few years, but St. Edwards in Elgin. Field has dangerous dips and elevations. Crown is too steep and not symmetrical.

We were the masters of all screw ups... Spent $1.5 million putting in a new soccer field and softball field with a parking lot, when could have spent $100K on a softball field and turf at the football field..

i think after the accidental killing of the grass last year Scott's came in and likely fixed a lot of those issues along with a beautiful new grass field

A new softball field and turf for a football field is more than $100K.

Yeah, what I was saying is spend $100K on a softball field... And then put turf in for football... And done so for maybe less than the $1.5K they spent

St. Francis has flooding issues and they put in field turf a few years ago.

They also alleviated the flooding issue by raising the field and putting in new drainage. I think at Lucas High, they would have to build it up too high to put in field turf based on flooding.

It still floods but you are correct it's better.

You could be playing in the intersection at Fullerton and Central and it might be better than Hanson's concrete turf.

Agreed. I played against St Pats my sophomore year of high school at Hanson. Got my left knee twisted on a blitz, played the rest of the game on that surface.. and it hurt the rest of my high school time and it still occasionally gives out until today..and I'm 53 now. That was a brutal surface even back in the late 70s. Lemme guess, they probably haven't changed the surface since then?

Definitely agree with Hanson. It's almost hard to believe that in 2016 there is still a stadium in use with old style astro turf.

Some of the seams are so wide they have painted the concrete green(ish) to blend in.

Agree with stella16. No one needs a better surface to play on besides De La Salle. I wish I could win the Powerball so the Meteors would play in a world-class facility. I'd keep the location, just replace the "grass."

I think the rumble was the EL.

Actually it is a great venue, good luck with the powerball "Voice"

Thanks, TeeOH :) Our venue is awesome. What other school has the Green Line rumbling by? "Standing passengers stand clear of the doors...Cermak will be next." Great school, great kids, great venue. Our playing surface...not so much.

. Rumor as I have heard it was that Hanson was resurfaced in the early '80's, some say with the old astro turf from Soldier Field. Not sure, this is all rumor aka bar talk. I do know the Astro turf is horrible and the entire stadium is an unmitigated disaster.

Hanson was resurfaced in the late 80's and not with Soldier Field turf, sounds like a lot of ND and former ESCC players giving their hardships endured at the House of Pain

The only hardship inflicted in the house of pain is by the turf

Easy. East Aurora needs new turf and new bleachers. I told Superintendent Mike Popp this last year. I have been told on Facebook that work is being done this summer and the football team will play all of their home games at Aurora Christian High School this fall.

Is that part of a larger whole campus facility expansion plan? - at work I heard a consultant wanted future traffic volume for 5th avenue near the campus. I don't see how they expect 600 more students since that part of A town is static growth and many probably sneak into West, Waubonsie, Batavia or the Oswegos.

Have they installed turf at Richards? That field has been like concrete during the playoffs the last couple of times I worked there.
