....outside Cord Sandberg. Currently John O'Korn and Josh Dobbs are committed to other schools and not listed as visiting us on Scout/Rivals. Not sure what's going on with Asiantii Woulard.

May be nothing, and I'm fairly certain that Mullen doesn't call the 'nik sites to inform them every time a guys schedules a visit. But just curious.

We're going to try to flip Ryan Buchanan

By telling him he doesn't have to grayshirt.

Got Cord Sandberg committed
We had a walk-on come on board in Golden that turned down other D-1's to come to State and try to play in the SEC

Not sure what else is going on. Heard we were trying to get Dobbs to visit- no idea where that stands.

Has Golden earned a scholly?
Do they really think Sandberg is coming?

We'll see what visits take place this month I guess

Dobbs is scheduled to visit in the next 2-3 weekends...at least, he was about a month ago. Seems pretty clear to me at this point that he's the first priority -- and the one we think we will get -- since he's the only one we are ACTIVELY recruiting at this point. If we get past him, we must be fairly confident we can turn up the heat and get Woullard or O'Korn -- both of whom will jump at the chance to play in the SEC(Woullard is about to OV to Kentucky and they think he may commit).

Dobbs looks like a solid QB. Smart, athletic, and hard working. Everything you'd expect from an Ole Miss legacy.

99% chance we don't see Cord in a MSU uniform next year so I do believe we're locked in on signing another QB. Dobbs is our top target although it makes me nervous b/c he's more Tyler than Dak. Woulard and O'Korn are the only two other targets on the radar that have leaked.

My guess is we try to get Dobbs to visit first and see where we stand and then bring the other guys in the next week if we need to

Is this dude some type of trouble-maker or does he just suck.......Reminds me of Cam Newton....a 4 star guy that many people just don't want to have anything to do with him. Cam was definitely not a priority for other schools (outside MSU) back in 2007, much like Woolard.

That's my biggest point, we have to either be confident in Sandberg or we have some type of under the radar QB recrootin going on. And us recruiting Dobbs so hard sort of flies in the face of all the guys saying Mullen can't coach a drop-back guy.

I just don't understand why Mullen is recruiting Dobbs for his offense. From looking at film, Dobbs is an excellent POCKET passer and doesn't scramble or run so that means he's a PRO-STYLE QB. Mullen has shown that he doesn't fit his system to the personnel, he tries to fit personnel to his system(square peg/round hole) Recruit a dual-threat guy and save us fans from more pain of watching a pocket QB run the spread read option.

Again, then why is Mullen recruiting him so hard. If Coach34 and his minions are to be believed, then Mullen is just a complete retard.

1) Depends on who you compare Dobbs to. Compare him to Sandberg, he's a pro-style QB. Compare him to Tyler Russell and he's Johnny 17'ing football.

2) What offense did you watch this year? Mullen changed the entire offense to fit Tyler. Nothing about this year's offense resembled Dan Mullen's bread and butter philosophy.

You have been truly watching the wrong film. Just because a guy CAN pass from the pocket successfully because that's how his highschool offense is set up doesn't mean that he CAN'T run as a dual threat type guy. It doesn't have to be an either/or proposition. He's 6'3 190 entering college and runs a 4.6. Relf was 6'3 205 and ran a 4.8 when he first got here.

Something people need to be mindful of is that Dobbs is ALSO a 2-sport star that will likely be drafted in baseball. His stock is nowhere near as high as Cord Sandbergs currently, leaving a much better chance he actually goes to college, but people need to realize it's going to happen.

Have a hard time believing that Dobbs will go to AZ State and not playin SEC

I realize that Dobbs is committed to AZ State and I may be in the minority here, but I have a real hard time believing that he will pass up the opportunity to play closer to home in the SEC and instead play 1,000s of miles away in an inferior conference. I think we get Dobbs, just a hunch.

He looks good and all, but his high school team must have a horrible defense.

It couldn't have been too good --- but let's remember that they play in Georgia 5A football -- which has better coaching and is more advanced than anything we even think about seeing in MS. You just thought the difference between Hoover and South Panola was big. That Alpharetta team has 5-6 d1 prospects on it...and their sister team Milton(also in Alpharetta) has 5-6 as well...

At this point, it's "best available" time. That is not a not a knock on Dobbs. But since Cord and other QBs committed so early in the game, we eased off looking for another QB. We were in the game with Dobbs early in the game so we feel we can potentially flip him. Outside of Dobbs, there aren't many QBs that we established a solid report with. For whatever reason, we have always struggled getting premier QBs to visit us at camps and even OVs. And with Dan, the visit means a lot.

O'Korn looks good, but the relationship with us and his camp is relatively new. Same with Woulard. We weren't on him hard till he decommitted. Ideally, I don't think Mullen wants a pocket passer, but its what left on the table for us at this time. Luckily it's a 4* talent. It could be worse.
