Just adding some perspective...your current receiver haul would have been 4th or 5th in the B10 East last year:
1) MSU landed four 4* WRs including the top B10 WR recruit in Corley
2) tOSU landed two Rivals 100 WRs and three 4* TEs
3) Michigan landed three 4* WRs (including two 5.9 4*s...both your guys are 5.8) and two 4* TEs
4) Maryland landed a 5.9 4* and whether you would have been 4th or 5th depends on if a 4* athlete they landed ends up at slot
Nationally (your current haul) would probably have been closer to the 20th best class (receiver) than being top 10...NU and fans have every reason to be excited about how things are going...just thought I add the big picture of this.
First of all this whole tone of your post is amusing, and it holds some baring in response to Husker fans clamoring for the current WR recruiting. I can kind of respect your "pump the brakes". However, the argument is pretty irrelevant.
1. Signing day isn't for another 11 months. KJJ and McQuitty could renege and it would all be moot. However, Nebraska will still add another 2 to 3 more wideouts, especially with 3 seniors in 2016. I think they will also look at 2 TE's. Considering some of the National WR's still looking at Nebraska, I would argue they probably end up with 4 or more Four Star receivers. Rivals rankings can also change between now and then. Claiming the current haul would only be 5th best is absurd. Hell, nerbaska only has 3 commits right now. If signing day was tomorrow, that would technicaly be the worst class in the history of college football.
2. Going into 2016, Pro Football Focus has the receiving corp at Nebraska ranked as the #1 Returning Unit in College football. All 3 Starters will play in the NFL. Westerkamp was a 4-star 5.8. Moore was a 4-Star 5.8 athlete, and Brandon Reilly was a walk on. Brandon Reilly or Corley at Michigan State? I'm pretty sure even Michigan State would take Reilly as a Senior over Corely. Stanley Morgan, JR was a 4-Star. Freshman All-American Demornay Pierson-El might be back or he might redshirt.
The All Time leading Receiver in California High School football history, Derrion Grim will be added to the mix along with Minnesota's Mr. Football, speedster JD Spielman. Grimm is bigger and stronger version of Pierson- El.
3. Highlighting Grimm and Brandon Reilly brings up my last point. Its in reference to something I've always believed about receiver recruiting. ITS OVERRATED. Guys like Amari Cooper or AJ Green are elite difference makers. If you can get them on your roster, you sign them. But you don't need those guys to win championships. You can win with 3 and 4 Stars, and even some walk ons at the skill positions. Championships are won at QB, along the front 7 on defense, and along the O-line. You obviously need to find the right fit. You don't want to get stuck with Iowa's receivers where only one player even remotely scares an opponent. Brandon Reilly or Corley at Michigan State? I'm pretty sure even Michigan State would take Reilly as a Senior over Corely.
4. Pro Football Focus ranks Nebraska as having the #1 returning WR Unit in college football going into 2016. That unit was ranked #4 in 2015. On one hand, you could argue that unit somehow guided Tommy Armstrong to throw for 3000 yards and 28 touchdowns. However, there is only so much they can do when Tommy is throwing pick sixes to back up Defensive Ends standing still on Tommy's own 2 yard line. You can have all the great wideouts in the world, but it doesn't mean **** if the QB can't muster the forward pass.
.... And that's kind of the initial point to this whole post.
one last note:
Keith Williams, Nebraska WR coach, has sent 4 players to the NFL from his stops. Riley and Langsdorf have sent 5 WR to the NFL and produced 2 Biletnikoff Award winners. I believe in 2017, that NFL number will jump to 7 players for Williams and 8 for Riley and Langs. TE Cethan Carter will also likely be the highest drafted offensive player for the Huskers in 2017...
I would trust the receiving recruits and coaching at Nebraska more than any other program in the Big Ten... irregardless of recruiting rankings.
But you won't see me jumping up and down until Nebraska signs top 100 players along their defensive line.
