Just curious what everybody is thinking, hearing about QB recruits for the 2010 class. Everyone we have offered so far has committed to another school Brunetti to West VA, Nance to Vandy, Broadway to Houston, and Burns to Maryland. The only other one we have offered Doughty doesnt even seem intersted in us, while one that we were on the verge to offer, Tyler Burch committed to La Tech where he will play both baseball and football.

I have been hearing one big name, Cam Newton the former Florida backup to Tim Tebow who has strong connections with Coach Mullen, He is at Blinn JUCO in Texas and word on the street is that he is interested in us and us in him.

From what I have heard from people at the Big Dawg Camp last Friday that two Florida HS QBs impressed the coaches. One is named Eddie Sullivan and the other is Nick Bracewell, whos mother is a MSU alum. Also there are the instate QB's Whit Haggard from Lamar in Meridian, Dylan Faver (Brett's Nephew) from St. Stanislaus, and Sam Noblin of Ocean Springs.

Just wanted to get everyone's take on what you think will eventually unravel during the recruiting process, and in a closing note I hope the fact that we have Tyler Russell coming in as a highly touted freshman QB hasnt be what has swayed the before mentioned QB's from not committing with us.

so I don't believe having Tyler on board is that big of a deal as far as getting others to commit. Our sucking history hurts us the most. Hopefully in time, Mullen will get more to look our way. Not sure who we will get at this year.

DS needs to set this board straight if he can. I am not AshleySchaffer or any other poster on this or any other board. Now I don't care if you believe me or not but it's the truth. I am pretty mild mannered but this is starting to piss me off.

I would just like to clarify to the board that I AM NOT TCREB, I am a long time viewer but recently decided to sign up and post on here. I am a 2002 Mississippi State Graduate and diehard State fan who likes to talk about the topics and if anyone thinks that I am being too neagative I apologize. The QB situation is something I really am interested in and want to see coach Mullen recruit and sign some of the to QB prospects in America.

In regards to TCREB whoever he is. he sent me this message wanting me to clarify that i am not him

"OP4 has some people on the SPS board thinking that I am posting under your name. Will you make a post refuting this. It is getting quite annoying. Look at the thread you started on the QBs State is recruiting to see what I mean. I appreciate your help with this. It's no big deal, just annoying is all." - TCREB

Here's my take on the QB situation:

1. There aren't any SEC QB's in-state this year so that obviously hurts.
2. The only QB we have really missed on is Barry Brunetti. I was disappointed Mullen couldn't lure him, especially over WV. I'm not sure how interested we really were in Nance, Broadway, or Burch.
3. I think we have to look to sign Cameron Newton out of Juco, put a good product on the field, and then hope to sign a late-bloomer who has a good senior season.
