This is sickening. And if the rumors can be believed, any attempts to add wording to a contract to protect against this kind of thing won't get you far. I don't know what can be done unless all schools agree to stand together.
It should be a standard thing. I know schools want to compete and are shady but after a bunch of them stop getting funds because people are tired of this stuff they may get together and say hey let’s all do this. Who knows though it’s not my money. I would make it a requirement to play.

I’ve come to expect nothing less from this regime. If it weren’t such a sad time it would be laughable. You just can’t make this stuff up. I’m convinced that I don’t want any more players ranked in the top 250.

That’s a silly thing to say. He had ACL surgery in February 2025. He signed with us two months later.

He was definitely injured when he got here. It’s debatable how injured he was when he left.
He didn't just tear his acl. He fractured his kneecap and something else. It wasn't a simple tear at all.

My son had the same injury and they had to make a new ACL out of one of his other ligaments. He was practicing no contact 4 months after surgery and given clear no restrictions 6 months to the day of the surgery. Now I know some have said “Your son plays football, it’s different, blah, blah, blah “. That’s true, but he never came off the field, he played offense, defense, and special teams. But you know what? He was getting tackled, tackling people and getting blocked, all of which JQ didn’t face. My son is a linebacker, he may not weigh as much as JQ, but he’s much more compact, probably weighs more per square inch or however you want to compare. My son had swelling too but he never sat out. Swelling is going to happen for the rest of his life. Also, 7 months after surgery he was playing summer basketball and going to football practice both. Some would say that JQ had too much to risk financially, but my son did it for free. I say my son had more to risk because JQ still got $2mill , which is more than my son will ever make. I just don’t have much sympathy for him I guess.
As you shouldn’t, plus his rehab was worlds better.

As much of a ***** as JQ is, Sharpe is much worse. He was never even hurt. He was just scared of hurting his draft stock. Shaedon and his little trainer Dwayne Washington are both massive bitches.
Just a hunch of scumbags who are good at sports. A tale as old as time. Just because they are skilled at something we all like doesn’t make them good people.

Don’t be surprised in a PC move by Pope if he doesn’t bring him back to be the Y sometime next season, that’s the world of sports today in a nutshell.

I do know JQ looked hobbled and ineffective the last couple of games he tried to play. I don't claim to know the entire truth about missing the entire rest of the season but those who claim to know 100% are actually just speculating unless they have info the rest of us are not privy to.

It is not based on belief but observable fact. Your speculation may be correct but it is speculation and objectively is not based on known fact as you consider it to be.

The kid was not performing well in Pope's system and with the surrounding talent somewhat limited. So his handlers and agents decided to pull him from the line up so that any weaknesses would not be exposed. Basically, a Shaedon Sharpe move but certainly supported in part by a coach who refused to call him out and by a contract that allowed a player to sit and be paid even after being cleared by the doctors.

Exactly. This contracts should be performanced based but that only works if all the schools get on board. They’re not going to pick one college who requires it over one who don’t. It’s why none of these schools will risk it.
This dude absolutely robbed us blind. Nothing wrong with him for months now.

How would you have handled it?
If I was a qualified college coach I wouldn't put so much hope into a player with a blown acl. Paid him like he was going to be a draft pick for us. He's a draft pick alright...

He was guaranteed to miss half of the season at the least. And obviously would miss more because he is a seven footer with an ACL injury

There's a reason Pope got him. Nobody else was going to pay a player to sit in the bench. At least sharpe was never supposed to play that first year.

You do know he was being recruited by Auburn, Kansas, and Ohio State too. Right?
How much did we pay him?

Where are you getting the number on what he was paid? What do you think that number was? Do you think the other schools recruiting him expected he would play for free?

You asked me how I would of handled it. I wouldn't of recruited a injured player that's leaving for the draft in a few months. Would have never had a situation to handle in the first place

JQ was ready for game action. Pope said **** you Jayden. You get 7 minutes vs bellarmine. JQ shut it down because of pope. No other reason. He could have absolutely destroyed pope and quit mid season but he stayed and supported his team. Be mad at pope. Not JQ

Freeman will play. Freeman isn't injured. He has a history sure..... JQ had a blown out ACL man...not the same at all. People say freeman was good. I would of loved to have him. Especially if Pitino sees some good in him

At the VERY least we can hope that this next team has more heart than last years (shouldn’t be hard). Never seen a collection of players that didn’t want to be at UK less than this past team, and it showed.

I said I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. Well... He looks like he's working out full speed. Must be awesome to kick back and get millions during rehab while preparing for the draft training circuit.
