Is that really true? Wow.
Yes..its not a huge number of visits tho. 5 times. And I think 4 of the 5 were lexington.

Which actually is quite a bit considering, obviously, the US isn't a realm.

For comparison...new york 3 times, California once, DC twice, Florida 1, Texas 1

Pretty interesting. International appeal of horses I guess.

You must have the least British blood of any native white Christian Countian, assuming that is what you are, that isn't Mennonite or Amish then.

My DNA is 98 Percent British and 2 percent Swedish and Dutch, which is mostly vikings in England.

Kentucky is the most British ancestral state in the US followed by Utah and Maine.
Yea. My Great grand parents on my moms side was from Germany. We had several people do those ancestry things and they were all mostly British. We always thought we were 50% German and then British, French and native American. Nope. It was like 60% British, 20% German and French 8% Native American and a bunch of weird stuff we have no idea where it came from.

Been to Westminster Abbey about 15 years ago and during the tour, they mentioned (IIRC) that the King is not coronated until a year and a day after the death of the previous King/Queen. Does anyone know if that is how they still do things? They used to make the oldest son automatically the King, but now the oldest child becomes the King or Queen, so who knows.

By the way the Abbey is probably the coolest structure I have ever been in, has the old oaken chair that every King has been coronated on since like 1300, and a hell of a lot of other great things to see. The front stoop is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and not even the King is allowed to step on that stone.
Some of its going to be interesting from a historical standpoint too. The queen's coronation was televised globally but all of the different procession ceremonies (if thats what theyre called) prior weren't...so it will be the first time those things are broadcast, much less seen by a non brit.

I'm also curious if they're going to change the money, etc. I'd read she's the most imaged woman in history, which makes sense...all the different countries money, stamps, plus portraits, etc.

Also was reading they might just open Buckingham palace to the public and not live in it.

Anyway, i don't think ppl will care much about him as king. Depending on how long charles lives, I think ppl will be more interested in ole willy and his hot wife.

They will be far more interested when Charles does go. Because William is Diana’s child and is the most like her. I think you’ll see a reduction of the monarchy even more under him. It will be bittersweet though. Because when William become King, Diana would have been Queen Mum. And that would’ve been special. She would’ve been so proud on that day.

Diana was special. And I think what attracted even some Americans to interest in the royals. She didn’t deserve to go out like she did that’s for sure.

Forgot to post this but relevant too bc of Sunday. She broke a 600 year tradition to do this. Imagine going back to 1776 and telling George Washington the monarchy would do this.

I doubt he would be surprised.

Washington was a British citizen most of his life and an ex-officer.

Maybe not in your world & experiences, but peoples often do make up after breakups.
Oh after killing tens of hundreds of thousands of your family, friends and countrymen people make up? A girlfriend that doesn’t kill your family is a little different than someone that wanted you all dead bro

Lol what? What does that have to do with anything? As i said, if you told him this in 1776, not after, I say he'd be surprised the empire that king George the third that was fighting a war with him over being independent would be surprised they're playing said countries anthem.

I think he would have realized that the culture that formed the other culture would eventually have a healing despite a disagreeable monarch at the time.
