Would have to think he probably never plays another college game right? If he took this long to come back surely he can’t sit out a year.

First of all I come in peace, and promise not to be as annoying and as frequent as some other Kansas posters on here. I enjoy reading some of the opinions on here and a couple other boards.

But apparently Grimes was told from Scouts to go back to school and play more point. It was no coincidence that Dotson and Grimes announced 15 minutes apart. Grimes would have come back to KU but when you have a guy like Dotson who will play 38 of the 40 minutes at point you really don't have a shot to do it.

I think a year off will be good for him and he would be a great addition to any team.

That makes sense from looking at the advanced statistics. Dotson was pretty much twice the player Grimes was last year. Grimes would definitely not want to be a backup seeing as he wanted to be in the NBA so badly.

Imagine the practices with Grime’s Maxey, Quick, and Hagans going at it.

I would love to bring him in the fold, but I think Texas too. Hagans guarding him all year would turn him into an animal.

Did anyone watch Grimes play last year? He was awful. Showed up out of shape and had a bad attitude in practice. Insiders said the split is mutual. Once the season was over he was either going in to the draft or transferring.

Also, he was given opportunities at the beginning of the season to relieve Dotson at point and was awful and often turned the ball over before reaching half court.

Playing for a program under FBI scrutiny embarrassed and demoralized him. Gotta respect the integrity.

Well, Hagans statistically was only slightly better and I’m thrilled he’s returning for us. Granted I loved his attitude (unlike you with grimes) and his defense was phenomenal for a freshman guard I thought, and that’s tough to see in the stats other than steals I guess.

But I think you spin everything kansas’ way rather than being honest and saying, it IS a loss for Kansas. He’d be awesome have as a backup to Dotson and if god forbid Dotson got injured, he’d be able to step right in and hopefully with another season would mature and improve. So I think you’re being silly acting like this is some positive for Kansas. If he turned it over as often as you say, BEFORE crossing halfcourt, he’d have had more than 2 turnovers a game. But I get it, you’re a Kansas fan. But it’s part of what makes your credibility nonexistent when it comes to Bill self, cheating allegations and anything else negative about your Jayhawks.

Look, Kansas is on the Mt. Rushmore of college basketball. It’s Kentucky, UNC, you all and duke. If you wanna throw UCLA in because of their titles, fine. Whatever. Point being, you don’t have to always act like little brother to the blue bloods like you’re Louisville or something. It’s cool, your all’s program has a great history. But you all have also cheated, have corrupt coaches and a coach with fake hair. Have some humility man.

Grimes has commented repeatedly in May about how he thinks he can play point guard... and that Kansas has him playing off the ball, so it didn’t really showcase his entire skill set. As has been said, with Dotson coming back, he wasn’t going to get that point guard opportunity. Notice how Grimes’ decision came after Dotson’s... coincidentally? I think he will transfer where he thinks he can handle the point. How he plans to DEFEND point guards is another story...

Grimes was pure **** last year. I’ve watched the games for 40 years and he’s one of the few FR I didn’t foresee improving. He didn’t get a lick better from game 1 to game 40.

He’s slow as molasses too, which was really concerning. Auburn guards ran circles around him. He’s not an NBA player at all

"Grimes becomes the 20th Jayhawk to transfer out of the KU program since 2004, — vs. 14 transfers before — is the third player from the 2018-19 team to transfer (joining Charlie Moore, DePaul, and K.J. Lawson, Tulane) and is by far the biggest name and most highly ranked prep prospect on the list of players to leave Self’s program via the transfer route."

Bet you didn't say that when Grimes hit 6 three pointers against Michigan St. and the next game had 10 assists against Vermont.

You Kansas fans really throw your players under the bus and I just hope other recruits see how you all treat your players.
I look for Grimes to go somewhere like Texas Tech where he will get lots of playing time and good coaching.

Maybe this is why Kansas recruiting has been atrocious. Self can't figure out a way to play two guards? Cal has been doing this almost every year, and in recent years, he's done it with 3 or even 4 guys.

Self needs to get with the times. Giving one guard 38 minutes like that isn't going to win you anything, unless you strike absolute gold and have an amazing PG.
