Question about baseball assistant coaches...

MSU has "assistant coaches" listed under Cohen and a total of 6 coaches including Cohen on the coaching staff. My questions are, what is the maximum amount of coaches allowed on a team and wouldn't it make sense to add a "pitching coach" and a "hitting coach" to the staff? I know we have those already but they are not determined as such like you see on all MLB rosters. Seems to me that MSU needs a new "hitting coach" and that doesn't mean firing the guy in charge but adding one that is determined specifically as just a "hitting coach".

including the head coach. Our "official coaches" and Cohen as the head coach of course, Butch as the pitching coach, and Lane as the hitting coach. Those three are allowed to go out and recruit players.

Mingione is listed as the camp coordinator but he is considered a "volunteer assistant". Same as Ron Polk at UAB. He can not go recruit players off campus, but he can work with our current players.

Tyler Bratton's job is more of an administrative type job.

We also have Brad Corley as a student assistant, which is similar to Mingione's job except that he has to be in school I guess. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on the semantics.

I honestly don't see how we could add another coach without cutting one loose.

Not sure how it is listed but Will Coggin is the GA in a way I believe. Corley is finishing up his undergrad and volunteering his time. I'm sure there is some scholarship money for that specific job. Greg Drye helps out more than Corley, Bratton, and sometimes even Mingione. He ismainly there as "strength coach" but is more of Butch's right hand man. He's as valuable as all the others combined.

Have you heard anything on Bracewell? I keep expecting to see him make an appearance. Maybe the timing just has not been right, but I wonder if he will ever be healthy again. Also, didn't he have some arm problems coming out of high school?

he is still having pain in his shoulder/arm. They are trying to let him throw a little in the bullpen but are not going to let him see the mound if he still has soreness.

As far as his having a problem in high school, I have no clue.

I think we could see him tomorrow. It just depends on the situation- I think it would be one inning at the most.

I am hopeful that he will be better by next year, but at this point you can't count on it. I would like for us to use him out of the bullpen and let that be it.

He had some arm problems in high school- he had something wrong with his shoulder that they tried to treat non-operatively, but it didn't get better and now he is still having some arm problems.
