Question about Brassell and Singleton.

I know a bunch of people have said Ole Miss will give them immediate playing time at WR. But weren't we looking at getting Brassell to play CB? I would think if we wanted him to play CB, he would get immediate playing time there. Does he not want to play corner? I can see where there might be a bit of a log jam at WR next year with the number of people we have there, and how immediate PT might sway Brassell and Singleton to OM. But if we are offering either one to play corner, I would think they would see the field next year no question.

This time of year is a catch 22 now for us. We are finally in the hunt for some big name players, but now we get to feel what it's like when some of these decisions come down to the final days while rumors float around about where each kid is going. Makes me love recruiting, but makes me hate it at the same time.

<span style="font-weight: bold;">At worst</span> we would have played OSU last night in the <span style="font-weight: bold;">Sugar Bowl</span>, let that sink in Big D.

we had Brassell committed along with his buddy Market and, for whatever the reason, couldn't hold him even though we demolished the Rebs for a second year in a row AND won a big bowl game. Then you have Singleton with everything pointing to him coming with us plus the Joe Price factor at MC and now he may be defecting. Nothing really makes sense for both of these guys to flip this late especially since we've got Mullen with a new contract and much more certainty that he will be around for a while. Had these guys been UM all the time it would have made more sense with them sticking with the Rebs but with our WR situation and still needing some guys that can stretch the field I don't even understand the switch for playing time purposes.

I agree that we will be ok without Brassel and Singleton. We have Morrow and Fosselman, and we have young WR's on the roster right now. We don't have to have them to be successful, and I trust Mullen to get the most out of every recruit we get.

But big name guys like Singleton and Brassell are typically not guys we get, and I think for us to be a BCS contender every year, we need to get at least a few ofthem. We need big time playmakers, and Brassell especially is that big time WR threat, or that lock down corner threat, that we haven't had in a very long time. To get to the next level and compete in the SEC every year and stay consistent, we need to sign guys like Singleton and Brassell.

it still turned out ok for us.
Was the winning the gator bowl just as exciting as playing in a BCS Championship game? Because that's probably where we would be if Newton played for us.

And Mullen doing all that in year 2....there's not a chance he's still be our head coach next year.

you saw what they did to USC over Bush. Hell you could add another degree to it when it came to Miss State. For that reason I am glad he did not come. I don't trust Cecil or Cam. It would have leak out on us.

Why on earth is there so much negativity going on with Brassell and Singleton all of the sudden? Can State fans not act like paranoid little girls. We have to have faith. Everyone thought Mullen was leaving for Florida. No one knows what those kids are going to do. Most of the noise has been caused by a few TSUN dummies. Look at what Yancy and McCready have said about Whitehead. Jermaine has repeatedly stated to me that those guys are liars. They may commit to TSUN, but I honestly believe no one knows for certain right now. If Brassell commits to the Bears after what their fans put him through after he committed to State, then he is not a very smart person. It would be like one of those Lifetime movies where the girl marries her abusive boyfriend. Those stories always turn out well for everyone.

Rosebowl saying Brassell likely to switch to UM then its definitely going to happen. Nobody knows for sure on Singleton but nobody seems to feel very confident anymore. If we could pick up Singleton and keep the other guys we have committed minus Brassell I would be a very happy camper. I do agree that our biggest single recruit right now is CJ and from all I can tell he is solid.
