And how many times has he been arrested on felony charges? I don't have a huge problem with you guys taking Masoli, but you can't even begin to compare his record to Patterson's.

If a person supports this type of player, you are basically a win at all cost type of person. And no, I'm not from the school of Croom.

as this guy.

If we do get Patterson, it will be after he spends a year in JUCO. He is going to have to prove that he can stay out of trouble. Even if he can, I'm not so sure that we would take him to be honest with you. It just depends on how he does. It's not like Dan is exactly begging Pat Patterson to be on the team right now- as in bringing him on campus for visits and such.

Also, if Patterson decides to go to MSU and we agree to take him, we're not going to be putting him in our grad school. Yeah, I know you don't have a choice, but that fact doesn't make it look any better that he is going to be in grad school. All people hear is- "This guy with a felony is going to Ole Miss to major in Southern Studies so he can play QB." Well, unless it's ESPN of course.

And on top of that, if MSU brings in Patterson, I doubt the Clarion-Ledger will have an article on the front page asking "SHOULD MSU TAKE PAT PATTERSON?"- and not on the front page of the sports section mind you, but the front page of the whole newspaper.

The story would be- "MSU just signed a guy that used to play at Ole Miss- that's kind of unique, huh? Just like Breck Tyler."

I'll tell you this- if I was an Ole Miss fan, I wouldn't be all that pissed about the "negative press" as much as I would be pissed about the fact that my team feels like they have to go this route because they don't have a good QB. But that's just me.

Not sure how many times you have to read it or hear it but State (the coaching staff) is NOT interested in the current edition of PatPat. They will keep an eye on him and watch his grades and his behavior while he is in JC. If he passes the tests (drugs and academics) then we MIGHT recruit him when he is finished at EMCC.

Last year, I was informed about how much more strict the Mississippi football staff is disciplining their players than MSU. He stated the two game suspension was much less severe than if a Mississippi player was caught with possession of marijuana. He said it would have been at least a six game suspension and a second such infraction would be certain dismissal. Now, Nutt is openly recruiting a guy with a rap sheet and, what was the latest infraction, oh yea, marijuana possession while on probation. Yea, I know it is all about winning and Masoli gives you considerable more options than what Mississippi has currently. The only reason anybody on this board is critical of the situation is the because of the absolute hypocrisy of a large number of pretentious ******* that comprise your fanbase.

I know that winning is everything and thus you have to take chances on some potential problem players, but come on. You have to draw the line somewhere.

Both schools have fans with holier than thou attitudes. If you think +*#@ has a monopoly on that then you need to go back to licking Gene's sack. I was pointing out the pure comedy that on the front page there was a thread denouncing Masoli and talking about how no one from State wanted him and then a couple of threads down......bring on Pat Pat. Not to mention the pure ejaculatory experience that some had over Cam Newton last year and a well publicized recruiting trip to a strip club in of all places West Point (at least go somewhere good). The two threads in combination support my thoughts that Gene's big purge a couple of years ago was acold war tactic to take over the board.

Bottom line is this. SEC football is about winning. It isnt about developing preachers. Kids smoke pot, drink beer, and do other stupid ****. It is what kids do. If a kid shows a desire to get better and can help a team, it is the coaches resposibility to try and make it work. IF,and it is a huge IF, Masoli called Mullen wanting to come to State and Mullen said no without really looking in to it, yall should fire the dumb SOB today.

mascots, symbols, eminent school name change and God knows what else. We made the ultimate effort to be "holier than thou" by hiring an affirmative action football coach who had about as much business being a head coach as me.

At the end of the day I don`t think there are that many of us that don`t understand that you do what it takes. To me the Masoli deal is not so much about being "holier than thou" as it is being "smarter than thou". You simply weigh risks , rewards, long term implications and based on thedegree of desperation make a call. Spin it how you like but this is a desperate move by Ole Miss. We didn`t feel as desperate in this particular instance.

Basing everything on a rap sheet. State fans make fun of Nutt for giving players 2nd, 3rd chances, but you want don't want to acknowledge Paterson being a troubled individual despite being given mulitple opportunities by Nutt to rehabilitate himself. Paterson is lucky he hasn't been arrested yet. Go ahead and take him, prove me wrong

The fact is every school has people who act like that when talking about their rival. It's asinine to do so because it always comes back to bite you in ***.

Gotta a reb friend that gives me grief about Dontae' Jones and how hespent less than a year at State & how he was only there to play basketball. Heeven admits that the main reason he continues to rag me is that DJ wasone of the main reasonsMSU made it to the Final Four. It' sbeen over fourteen years since Dontae' left and he still brings it up.

State QB situation with Relf and Russell is far different than %*!#. Nutt is in a bind.IMHO, big difference.

more and more with every interview he provides. After reading his most recent one on yahoo sports, I'm beginning to wonder how he walks and chews gum at the same time. Does he actually think people believe his statements and any future statements from him? This whole situatuion is becoming comical and Nutt is making the entire state of Mississippi look stupid, let alone the university and program he works for.

How can any of you Nutt supporters take him seriously? Also, if he were such a great coach he wouldn't be in this QB situation to begin with. He should have been able to say F U cotton, I'll just play (insert playername that Orgeron would have recruited).
