I have seen the figure of $6 million floated on this board. Does anyone have actual proof of this number or is this an urban legend internet figure that now people think is "fact"? Has the actual buyout amount ever been put in print by Clarion Ledger or other paper, or verified in some other way?

if he's gone this week it would be less. i'm not aware of nix having a big buyout but we'd likely have to pay his contract which is more than one yr. nutt has made as much money getting fired as he has coaching.

[*]For a non-BCS bowl game, he gets $50,000.
[*]For a bowl game affiliated with the Bowl Championship Series, he gets $75,000. If he wins that game, he gets $105,000.
[*]For a game that would result in a UM national title (the BCS national title game for now, but the contract is worded so that a change in format would still essentially honor the clause), Nutt would get $150,000 for appearing and $300,000 for winning.
[*]For winning the SEC Western Division, $30,000. For winning the West and making the SEC Championship Game, $60,000. For winning the West and winning the SEC Championship Game, $90,000.
[*]For SEC coach of the year (AP or coaches’ vote), $25,000.
[*]For national coach of the year (AP or AFCA vote), $50,000.
[*]For each SEC win in a season beginning with the sixth, $75,000.
