Are offensive rebounds subtracted when accounting for the total number of possessions?

In other words, do you take the total of all shots, plus turnovers, plus offensive fouls plus trips to the free throw line, MINUS offensive rebounds, to arrive at the total number of possessions?

If offensive rebounds are not subtracted, shouldn't they be, since you can only score once per possession?

And if offensive rebounds are not subtracted, wouldn't that hurt our Points per Possession more than most teams, since we're one of the top offensive rebounding teams in the country?

I really am looking for clarification on this. Thanks in advance for any insight...

Yes..you have it right. MINUS OREB.

What i don't know is how they look at FTA and discern whether it was 2 shots, 1 and 1, or a AND 1. I doubt they watch the game and are able to correctly count possessions. Perhaps they look at both sides and come up with an average to arrive. They probably have a formula when looking at FTA too.

Thanks GRF. Do you know if an offensive foul counts as a turnover in these stats?
