Question about seating.

A co-worker of mine said someone in the ticket office told him that he would not be sitting in the same seat but would be on the same yard line. Thinking about this, the only way this makes sense is if they are moving the field further north to allow for some student section seating in the south endzone.

To be honest if the field is going to be moved West any ways how much harder would it be to move north at the same time?</p>

into the SEZ during construction...

Unless, of course, your ok with losing 2500 in capacity for 2 seasons....

No reason the surface won't be "fixed" an extra length, so all moving the field back south entails is moving goal posts when the new construction is in place.

to accommodate student seating. Not that im in the know on any of this. I just haven't seen Stricklin or anyone else say that.</p>

They can easily keep the existing bleachers there for this fall as construction starts. As for next year, I don't know, but you can count on the fact they'll have some seating for those 2,500. Heck, there's no reason the field would need to be moved north to put bleachers in the south end zone anyway. We did it for the Bama and Auburn games in 1986 without moving the field.

but he has said that the student section will be moved to the SEZ for the upcoming seasons during construction. There has been a good bit of discussion about how they would make this happen, because it can not happen in the current configuration with the current bleachers. Not enough room.

It makes more sense to temporarily move the field a little bit to accommodate the bleachers we have, rather than building new bleachers for a 2-year temp assignment. JMO

and build a few more rows closer to the field? Or would the field have not been able to drain well enough if we did that (water table, etc)? <div>
</div><div>New stadiums tend to build the front rows closer to the field than what we currently have, and other schools that had an old track between the field and the stands dug the field deeper to allow building more rows closer to the field. </div><div>
</div><div>It's certainly a really inexpensive way to add capacity and make the home crowd seem a little louder.</div>

they got a waiver from the SEC about visitor's allotment of tickets. They provided less visitor's tickets in order to keep the season tickets and students at the (then) current level.
I see us doing the same thing
