question about Starkville Metrocast

I can hook up everything she needs provided she's getting service to her building (which she should be)...</div><div>

the fee covers them hooking up the cable at the pole and all that jazz (they unhook it at the pole when disconnected so unsavory, tech savvy people like me don't jack their cable for free). So, I don't think you are getting out of it. Plus, if they let you hook it up and then you complain it costs them more to deal with it. I think you are just out $100.

</div><div>Anyway reason I was asking is because ATT has self-install and they do pretty much the same thing... come to location, hook it up outside the building, test the signal and bugger off. it saved me $50 so I figured maybe metrocast might do the same thing...</div>

I had u-verse when I was in school. I highly recommend checking with ATT. Metrocast is a damn ripoff. Don't go with them if you can go with ATT.

I asked when I signed up if self-installation was possible and they said no. Their people finally showed up four days later, took about two minutes to take the modem out of the box and plug it in, and walked out again. It's ******** but I don't think there's a way around it.

especially when you provide your own modem. What a crock...

I was available for self-install through Cox (Nola) by activating my internet at an address that had internet through Cox in the past. They are shipping me the modem tomorrow and all I have to do is plug it in. Cost = $0

It really just depends on if they put a "lock" on the internet there. The lady in the office saved my fiancee and me that $100 dollars by having us plug our modem in and see if all the lights light up, which shows that it is sending and receiving a signal from Metrocast, but not being online thru their servers. It had not been cutoff outside so all they had to do was flip a switch and it was on with no installation fee.

I highly doubt you can get out of the $100 dollar fee if someone has to come out and do anything. They contract out their house calls, or at least they have every time that I have had a guy come by in my years here.
