Question. Do you want us to lose tomorrow?

Or hell, do you want even to lose the rest of the year if means Croom and/or McCorvey would be gone? I find myself conflicted. I really want Croom to do well but I'm sick of his ****. It's one of those things where a short term loss would mean a long term gain. I told everyone if we could just get to a bowl, Croom and State would be well on their way. For the past three years I've (sadly) been questioning if he could even cut it.

I have UT buddies that have wrestled with this question for quite a few years in a row. They've been wanting Fulmer gone for a while, but they still don't want to have to lose. They basically either want him to achieve the success they want (BCS bowls and SEC titles), or they want him to lose them all and get fired. However, they've been stuck with him going 8-4 or 9-3 for a while now, just enough to keep his job, but not enough to satisfy their desire for competing nationally.

If you really want him gone, you're probably in the spot where you want him to come back and win 7 or 8 games, and if not you want him to go 2-10 of 3-9, so you can get a new one. Worst case scenario when you dislike a coach is for him to do enough to keep his job but not enough to have an enjoyable season.

this is unreal. no matter how much i dislike a coach at state (and i don't really dislike croom, i just think he's doing horrible), and no matter if it is for the better in the long run, i NEVER...NEVER...wish us to lose. taht is just stupid.

...but that was a different situation. We had a very unstable situation at athletic director. At the time, nobody knew who would make the hire. We had Polk pushing like crazy for Raffo and getting thrown out of games on purpose to let Tommy audition. We had a very large consensus that did not want Raffo hired. And many of us were afraid that if the team suddenly started playing well, the old administration would push to get him hired. The team tanking validated that a huge change was needed.

In football, it's still in our best interest to succeed. While 99% of us have lost faith in Croom, it would be better for us to be wrong than to be right. It would be a completely different situaton if Croom was retiring and pimping Woody to be the next HC. Then you start to worry about it.

I don't care if Sly's job hangs in the balance w/this game. Never do I want MSU to lose at anything. Of course I and many others will rake Sly over the coals at a loss.

that the sumbitch is paid nearly 2 salamis to produce the equivalent of horseshit for an offense, it is best for the program that he has MState level success (6-8 wins, bowl game) on a consistent basis. I simply cannot bring myself to hope for losses.

..so that every decision he made was the right one. I really want him to succeed. He's a great Ambassador for our University and he gives great speeches that fire up the fan base. Not only that, but the NCAA isn't about to look into any recruiting shenanigans with him at the helm, and if Ole Miss starts pissing around with their PI's and ugly *****-supporters sleeping with NCAA officials, the Johnnies will get called onto the carpet and put on probation just for the hell of it.

That said, either win out or lose out. 3-9 to 5-7 is excruciating.</p>

.....that I and people who think similarly ***** so much about MSU football? I don't think we'd waste our time if we didn't want to win. The reason why we're all pissed is because we may very well be in the middle of our 7th losing season in 8 years. Why the hell any self-respecting MSU fan would have a problem with other fans bitching about that is waaaay beyond me.

I have thought about it. When we played J'ville State a few years ago, I thought about it. I definitely thought about it in the last of the JWS years. But in the end, I always want State to win.
