How do you guys feel about Mullen/coaches keeping scholly for a kid who has gotten injured (in this case torn acl & will require surgery) in high school? Reason I ask is I personally know one of our commits who tore his ACL a couple of weeks ago and he nor his family called to tell Mullen. Mullen some how found out (hs coach I'm pretty sure) and called the kid to let him know not to worry he still had a scholly. This same kid had shoulder surgery last year and played very timid this year and once he got offer from State he didn't play hard. Personally I don't think he'll make it in the SEC because of this. But what do ya'll think?

I'm not giving the kids name out of respect, but we have more than 1 commit with a torn ACL

Because of that, I don't really feel like it is on the coaches, it is on the SEC for making the rule. With the premium on the 25 spots now, you just can't afford to do that.

I didn't even think about the 25 cap. I've known the kid along time and this offer is a head shaker to me. Hope I'm wrong.

I know who this player is that you are talking about- he's going to redshirt anyway.

ACL injuries/repairs have come a long way- this player has a good prognosis for getting back on the field.

Personally, I think it's really shortsighted to cut someone because they have an ACL injury.

but I guess you could say that about a lot of high school players. I know he will rs & know his prognosis but I'm not entirely sold on him. But Mullen is a much better recruiter/coach than I am. I've just seen him play a lot of football games. I certainly hope hemakes it and I'm not dogging on the kid at all (not saying anybody is accusing me). Just have my concerns.

If it's who I'm thinking, I've heard an opposing coach say how this guy was whipped all night (and yes, it was after the commitment.)

He had some funny stuff to say about Nutt. I'm not saying the kid won't ever be a good college ball player, it'll just take 3-4 years, I think. Like I said I have seen him play many games since he was in Jr. High & I just think its risky. My opinion is all. He's a great kid & has the grades, makes good grades actually, and very coachable, size, speed, etc. I guess its just the eye test for me.Even a family member of his was surprised at his offer from State & has told me he didn't "bring it" his senior yr like I thought he would. I feel the same

If we're already stocked at this position & he's not a top prospect, then yes - cut him loose.

But say for instance... if he's onlythe3rd or 4th guy we'll signover the course of 2 years at his particular position, and we can't easily replace him at this point - I guess you honor the scholarship.

In this situation I say we honor it because it's a position we haven't just been loading up with the last 2-3 years.
