To expand on something Coach34 and I were discussing in another thread. With the way we haven't been hitting today....in extra innings if we get a one out walk, would it be better to bunt the guy to second to give ourselves a shot at a 2 out hit to win it? Or swing away and basically have to string 2 hits together to win it?

I say under normal circumstances you don't give up an out on a 1 out sacrifice...but the way we're hitting today, I would have bunted in both of our last two 1 out situations with a man on 1st. It takes away the double play, and it gives us a chance to win it with 1 hit instead of having to get 2.

Thoughts?

You're saying give up an out to get the guy to 2nd with two outs - giving us one chance to get a hit. But with "the way we're hitting" what are the odds we get that hit with two outs? I like our chances swinging away... maybe the batter walks. Maybe there's a wild pitch. Maybe he even gets a hit. If he does any of those then you've got 2 chances to get him home from second... I never like bunting with two outs unless you're playing a very poor fielding team.

But I see your point. I don't think there's a right or wrong, but I was curious to see how everyone else felt.
