Tropical storm Ernesto is rolling into the Caribbean right now... I have a beach trip planned to St. George's Island (on the coast south of Tallahassee) for next weekend, Aug. 10-12. Is Ernesto going to 17 my weekend all up or what? Thanks in advance for all your sage advice...

but I did watch Stephanie Abrams on the Weather Channel this morning. I have also had a strong interest in weather for several years and have tried to learn what I can from where I can. The latest track has it hitting the Yucatan on Wednesday. My gut instinct is that your vacation will be fine. That massive high pressure over the plains (the one responsible for all this lovely 100+ temps) is more than likely going to steer Ernesto straight into Mexico. The only way I see this storm making a hard right turn and coming into the northern Gulf is for that high pressure to get broken down by a strong trough. I don't foresee that happening. The longer that high stays strong the further west it is going to push the storm and the less liklihood of it making a turn into Florida. I would be much more worried if you said you were going to Galveston.

no one will have a clue until atleast Monday or Tuesday. Even then, forecasts will just be a little better guess but should tell us Mexico/TX, central gulf or FL.
