Since I have lived out of state for a while now and have been in school the past 5 years and busy on Saturdays playing myself I havnt been able to make it to many games except on my bye week. I've been to one game in Starkville the past 5 years and it was the Arkansas game back in 09 or 2010 I think when we went into 2 OT's and barely lost because of a fumble out of the endzone. Heartbreaking still... A few of my friends and I have been to the past 3 Arkansas vs Mississippi State games though and have kind of made it a tradition. Anyway, my question is I just bought 5 tickets for section 18 and didn't know if anyone else sat there or close to there and knew how it was. I've only sat on the 50 yard line on the home side about row 10, thanks to my cousins season tickets and didn't know how it would be over there. Someone told me that's right next to the band and I didn't know if that effected the experience of the game or not. Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance!

By "home" side I assume you mean the west side? There's not really a home side any more ... almost all the seats on the east side (which is where Section 18 is) is taken up by MSU fans. The visitor section on the east side, lower level, is on the south end, and you're closer to the north end.

You'll be fine in 18, surrounded by MSU fans except for the occasional visitor, but they're in every section. The band was either there or near there in past years, but now they're in the north end zone, so they won't "effect" [sic] your game experience one way or the other. I think there are a couple sections of students still on the east side near where you are, so if anything affects your game experience, it'll be them. It's up to you whether that effect is positive or negative. If you're high enough up, you'll be able to see the game well.

Thank you!

If I'm in row 2 will I still be able to have a good view? I'm not sure if there will be much blocking the view of the field or not. And I purposely got the tickets close to the NEZ to see it better and feel the energy of the students but I didn't know if we would be right next to the band or not. Just curious

I'm in section 18 row 21. Went to the southern game and had a blast. It's fun being next to the band and they don't overpower you. I doubt that's a good thing but for section 18, it's not too loud. The only complaint I had was that I could not hear a single word from the video screen. I don't know if that improved during the UAB game.

I have no clue about the view from row 2.

It seemed to be a bit better for the UAB game, to me. I sit on the south end, in Club Level, just about on the goal line and the speakers are firing toward the north. The first game was very difficult to hear or understand. I think they turned it up some for the UAB game. Last year it was ear-shattering.

I've never sat that low so I can't really say how your view will be or if you'll be blocked. I know some of the cheerleaders will be right in front of you, so you may not want to watch the game anyway. ;)

With two video boards, there's not a bad seat in the house. I used to sit on row 4 across from where you're at. You can't see much until the ball gets within 20 yards or so from you. But you'll learn to just watch the south jumbotron until the action comes to you.
