It's a smoky summer day, and I'm bored. What year did UK hold #1 ranked LSU on 4th down, and knock them off? Pleasant memory for all of us huh?

I remember the day. I and a friend were chased out of SE Utah by bad weather. We stopped to have dinner at a Mexican place he knew in Grand Junction. They had the game on so we stayed to watch. He let the whole place know I was a UK grad. Good times for UK football even if they cost me a drive over Vail Pass and the Tunnel in an all out high country Colorado blizzard. We'd been trying to beat it until my attention was caught by what UK football accomplished that day.

I'm also old enough, and was a student at UK when we won our last SEC title in football. Besides the answer to my question what are some of your best memories of our football Cats? I'm sure I've forgotten many though I do remember beating Bama in CW, and the goal post coming down.

Dad was still alive to watch that game. We were in Florida and had been all but evicted from a sports bar by obnoxious LSU fans. We went back as soon as the Cats won and were greeted by a sea of blue. There wasn't a drop of yellow or purple in sight.

Well, don't just sit there, go put the damn fire out.

Beautiful country, but I was back at Cumberland Falls a couple weeks ago, grew up about 20 miles from there, I keep forgetting how green and beautiful that country is also. There was an article and picture in the New York Times in the forties about my Dad cutting down what was supposed to be the biggest Poplar tree east of the Mississippi, I wish I had been bigger then and I might have tried to stop him------of course we might have starved if he hadn't cut it down, and no one thought twice about it back then, Kentucky was 75% forest when we took it away from the Indians.

On subject, I was at Stoll Field when Lou Michaels destroyed Thug U in the fifties, probably the best game I ever saw an individual UK player play. The game where Seiple faked the punt for a TD was a beauty also though.

I was there, too. I was also at Stoll Field for the UT game the Saturday after the Kennedy assassination. It was surreal. A sold out crowd sat in silence the entire game. There was no cheering, no band music and no conversation. The game went on in total silence. I'll never forget that sad day when I was a sophomore

Norton and Kestner beating one of the Mississippi schools in an away game, maybe 64'
John Ray's team beating Archie &Co,69?
Curci's team beating Penn St
Couch hammering UL, putting up 60+

There have been some good ones but they have been spread over way too many years.

I only saw the LSU game on TV. Maybe it was the prime time CBS broadcast, but that was most big time atmosphere I think I ever saw at a UK home game. By the end the Commonwealth crowd seemed just as electric and imposing as any of the atmospheres at the more traditional SEC superpowers.

Don't forget 1999 at Tiger Stadium In perhaps Hal Mumme's finest hour coming from behind in the last two minutes to upset LSU. We were there. Believe me, it was incredible beyond belief. 90,000 Cajuns left the stadium in record time. The lights and scoreboard were turned off immediately. In the space of 15 minutes, UK fans and our team was all that was left in the stadium. We partied all the way back to New Orleans. The state of Louisiana went into a period of mourning. God, it was wonderful.

Great game, we were traveling with the Diamond Tour bus group back then. They would drop you off at the front entrance and pick you back up without having to walk far. But after that game, the school police advised our tour guide to keep our group together and say nothing while leaving the stadium. It was so strange how quiet it was. But the bus did get pelted with fruit and vegetables as we passed several tailgating parties. It was a fun night.

I was starting my senior year in Electrical Engineering and running past the old Alumni Gym to class when I first heard of JFK's assassination, and of course nothing could have made me miss the game, but what a tragedy that was for the nation IMO.

Was at that game as well. We had parked on campus, and as we walked back in our blue garb a drunken, morbid voice called out to us: "Go home. Just go home." Of course, I've been there too when they whipped hell out of us.... Winning is a lot more fun.

I was at the Auburn game in 1983 (Night Game) Auburn was ranked 4th and we were 16th! We hung in for 3 quarters then Bo Jackson took over! Over 220 TD's rushing! Electric atmosphere!

That was a fun season of football except that awful loss to Mississippi State in Commonwealth. I remember waking up to UK being ranked 7th and College Gameday coming to Lexington, never thought I would see that.

I got to sit in SEC officials comp seats for the 2007 LSU game. That put me in squarely in enemy territory. My best friend and I had a field day... just smugly cheering on the Cats... no taunting the carnies was necessary. I still recall the classless asses running cheers during MOKH in the pregame. We must have been reminded of the Miracle 100 times if we were reminded once in the 4th quarter, and then it was OVER! It took me a week to wash off the smell of cotton candy.

I was there in 2007 and remember two slightly funny things about it.

On the last play when we stopped them there was a couple of second pause before the crowd erupted. We had had so many things go wrong in previous close games we could not believe it was really over and had won it.

The whole celebration scene was surreal . Nobody wanted to leave the stadium. After about forty minutes the guy on the loud speaker came o n and said something like "I'm sorry folks but you have to go home. "

I have always thought UK fans showed their ignorance of what a great job Brooks did with inferior talent in that game, most assumed we should have won the game easily but, IIRC. we had one four star playing on offense and two on defense, (all from Kentucky) while they had TWENTY four star commits the previous four years (ALL from Mississippi). Their four star Dixon ran all over us, about 250 yards rushing IIRC, but the play that beat us in a close game was the one long TD pass when everyone fell asleep. The beginning of the end for our DC Brown, although he was the "Co-DC" the next year, mitch couldn't bear the thought of paying his buyout.

From on top of the world to the bottom in one easy step.

Tennessee 2011. It may have given a little false hope with Joker, but a win over the vols for the first time in my life with a wide receiver at quarterback was pretty sweet.

After that is Louisville 2002, unexpected win to kick off a pretty solid season. Dave Ragone may still be on the ground

I was ready to sell Brooks down the river way too soon,I later came to appreciate the job he did and wish he had stayed longer.

We can't seem to get the right mix of coaches here at the right(same) time.Claiborne got here too late in his career, Howard would have been better at the time,Curry(minus Uzlak + Mumme as OC would have been gold) Missing the Joker years would have helped.

As of right now I think we are close with Gran and Hinshaw if Stoops and Eliot can pull a small rabbit out of the hat on defense we may have a shot at building something here.We have to get 6 wins this season come hell or high water.

I so want Stoops to make it here, but he has to hit the bowl mark this season,it is there for him to do all he needs is to get over the hump

Gran & Hinshaw have the weapons in my book & yes it's time Stoops to take this team to a Bowl game without a doubt. East is as weak as it can get because UK is picked 4th because the teams below them don't have that SEC look and hopefully UK finally has that look for 13 games

For the 2011 win over UT, I was there with my then eight year old son. Definitely a memorable win. Probably the only time in Joker's tenure where he and his staff actually outcoached the other team.

Also attended our last win over the Gators in 86 when I was in school at UK.

I also witnessed a number of wins over LSU, but not the 2007 win unfortunately. Watched that one from the Two Keys tavern with my wife and my brother. A great time was had by all that night.

I also attended the seven-OT game against Arkansas; definitely a memorable game, just didn't turn out the way we wanted it to.

That was my freshmen year of college and UK football was actually decent and enjoyable to watch. Then joker came in.
