our RPI is in the 20's, and they had to play us on the road. It's not like we're Coppin State.

..the second game of their season Auburn played Virginia.


Of course, Virginia beat the crap out of Auburn, but I guess it doesn't matter since the RPI formula doesn't really penalize you for losing as much as it rewards you for "playing a quality schedule."

And, as you point out, RPI is more about who you played than how you did. Auburn's a good team, but no way they're anywhere near the 12'th best in the country. But if you play in the SEC and play a tough non-conference schedule, a mediocre record will get you one hell of an RPI ranking.

... I figure if you are going to play a game where winning is the ultimate objective, I would rather win games vs. beatable opponents & get "punished" with a low RPI that lose games to better opponents & get "rewarded" with a high RPI.
