question regarding cohen's pinch hitting decision

1st and 3rd with 2 outs in the 8th. they bring in a left handed pitcher and we hit stark instead of norris? doesnt make sense since we were putting him in for defense anyways. norris has a better average and has some pop. should have saved stark for defense/pinch running/ hitting in the 9th. what was cohen thinking?
