I was wondering about the legality of using some of our past logos that we had prior to Adidas. I am especially fond of the locking MSU of the 90's. Is there a set number of years that a logo must be out of use before it can be used again or is it permanently off limits? I'm not suggesting that we go back to the old logo full time. I just thought it would be nice to use it once or so a year for certain situations. I know that professional teams often wear throwbacks, but the league teams all use the same apparel and uniform suppliers. Anyone with any knowledge of the infringement laws regarding this? Thanks in advance.

but I don't know how continuous use is defined (it probably depends on the jurisdiction).

Whether the mark has been in continuous use since we, as a university, ceased using it, would be the question. Also, since Montana State has used the logo, it either lost its exclusivity as a MSU mark for failure to protect it, or it is still in continuous use by Nike (the owner), even though it is now used for Montana State.

I'm no trademark expert, though, but I think those are the issues.
