That's my one reservation with Mullen. In all his interviews, when talking about the defense, he says something like, "MSU has always had a good defense and we expect that to continue." I may be reading too much into it, but it comes across to me as him just dismissing the defense as a concern and concentrating only on offense. Unlike others, I like the Torbush hire, but I hope we have a solid football team on both sides of the ball. I hope my concerns are just me reading too much into it.

We just havent heard a whole lot about D since the hire. I fully expect Mullen to lead us to the endzone, but I dont know a thing about Torbush.</p>

Hell, even Croom knew this... Look at the 2 years Florida won their last 2 national titles. Good defense. The year they didn't. Bad defense. Add the fact that we are trying to add a quality CB, when Croom and Co. weren't, and I would say that Mullen cares about the defense.

As long as we don't turn into a bunch of Odell Bradley's out there, I'm okay with what he's saying.

I have the same reservations. I honestly don't care what the score is as long as we have more than the other team. But there are going to be times where our defense is going to have to step up and bail our offense out, just like there are times that our offense is going to have to bail our defense out, and if we can't do it, we're screwed.

The good thing about the defense right now is Mullen and Torbush aren't best friends for life, so if Torbush isn't getting the job done, Mullen probably will have no problem getting rid of him in an appropriate amount of time.

And he's also going to let Torbush do his thing, and not interfere, which is probably why we aren't hearing much- and I don't mind that at all. Croom let Ellis Johnson do his thing and that worked out pretty well, and I don't mind Mullen being heavily involved in the offense since he is so well thought of as a spread guru. I still don't like Mullen messing around with ST's, though.
