Can we start a campaign to use some of the funds that were donated last week to renovate/destroy Dorman? I'm being 1000% serious right now it's the ugliest buildings on campus and it's in the most recognizable area on campus...

Dorman is absolute trash. I forget the name but the lit building behind the architecture building was worse IMO

Dorman has a 300 seat auditorium...............

that is very much in demand. It has other large rooms that are heavily used. Until there is another facility with similar sized classrooms, Dorman ain't going anywhere.

polish the turd?

colossal waste of money. Dorman is one of several that need to go. Unfortunately, most of the several can't be spared.

Yes - like the union. Not sure how much inside needs to be renovated but they did a good job on the union.

Not to mention expensive lab equipment on upper floors or at least there was when I had soils lab w/ Dr. Jones and turfgrass lab w/ Krans.

The bears polished a turd..

..while I questions some of the design/color choices, these dorms were never out of commission while being re-skinned. All for the sake of aesthetics.

One of my uppity friends obsessed with student government told me Dorman is getting rebricked in ~5 years. They just renovated the auditorium, and there's nothing wrong with the interior outside of that. It's a science building. It's not going to have leather seats and fancy stairwells like McCool. It's going to have vinyl tiles and industrial looking hallways.

Personally I like the building other than the 70's looking longhorn orange brick. The cement accents around the windows will look cool when they don't stick out so much. Just take it all in. It's a process. We're not the only ones who think it looks like ****.

ETA: Bowen just had a facelift, but because it's a beautiful building already they just went ahead and used the original brick. But my entire senior year they were removing panels and remortering huge sections. It looks great now. Dorman will get the same treatment, but I would image they'd just use the sectional brick like the stadium and cut the project's time in half.

To be honest, I'd rather see Allen go than Dorman. Part of Allen looks like a bank and the other part doesn't even come close to matching. It is one of the most inefficiently used buildings on campus in terms of space. Couple that with horrible layout... and it is the recipe for a ********. To prove my point, anyone who has ever tried to piss in that freakin' hallway bathroom knows exactly what I'm talking about.

Easy. Just put a Mississippi State Jersey on the Bear Bryant Statue in Tuscaloosa, then convince Harvey Updyke that Dorman Hall is the most sacred building on the Mississippi State Campus.

If anyone here is good at photoshop and has free time….

I'd love to see someone do this same thing to an aerial view of dorman.
