Quick MLB Draft Thoughts

Assuming no surprises either way, here is where we look to be.

Good- We did about as well as anyone could reasonably hope with our HS signees. We kept everyone except Holmes, and he was always going to sign. Not a ton of high school players, but the quality is good. Six top 200 players and all 10 are top 500, per PG. Anderson, Bryant, Hutchinson, etc. is a good HS class, assuming no surprises tomorrow.

Bad- JUCOs got hit fairly hard. We didn't do very well with our two biggest needs for next year- instant impact pitching and instant impact power from the JUCOs. It looks like we will hold on to John Mason, so that would help the pitching. Hopefully injured pitchers and young position players can make the jump.

All in all, not bad but not great either. Here's to no Dale Burdicks tomorrow.

I may be the only one but I'm not as concerned about the JUCOs, especially the pitchers. I mean, we are in no way going to be short on arms, although Bacon is pretty damn good. Hitting wise, we still have Pener and Gilbert, and a plethora of upperclassmen, including some JUCOs in their 2nd year, when they've traditionally made a jump. McNamee, Vansau and Bragg as seniors sounds pretty good to me.

Last year....we had to have them, no question. This year the hole isn't as deep.

Don't be so sure. Robertson and the 2nd baseman returned for their senior year. Cannizaro wasnt Poche's coach, but who knows if he had a hand in bringing him back. Rooker coming back has got to help as well

Brent Rooker had leverage. I cannot speak for the LSU guys, but from what I understand it was more about winning a title for LSU than it was about money. You cannot expect college juniors to all be that noble. We certainly have a chance to win a title next year, however, so I hope you are proven correct.

Rooker had leverage last season; Gridley will not. Graveman got 5k as an 8th round draft pick as a senior

Freeman and Robertson both turned down 6 figures. If they don't win a championship this year, that decision will sting bc they won't get jack as a signing bonus this year

Also should mention that Robertson's mom makes 2 million a year, so money not a huge concern for him.

No one told you ******** to bring logic to this discussion.
