I bet scotty's mom is though. I don'tusually talkabout other teams' character, but Tennessee is currently my choice for Thug U. Marijuana and guns charges againsta lotof the team, and I don't think I am the only one to notice their tendency to try to showboat at opposing arenas. That is something most players wouldsave for home games.

Ha Ha. Seriously, recruits' parents have as much if not more to do with their selections than their own personal preferences. If you doubt that, think back to when you were 18 and thinking about college.

Richard, of course, how is he doing these days? Vernon Goodridge? Bernard Rimmer? I doubt very much these guys are too happy with their decision.

......saying that Houston would have been an early entry to the NBA had he not gotten hurt before his senior season. Then they guy redshirts at State, then barely plays and when he does play, doesn't produce, then leaves for Tennessee State. Sounds like an early entry guy to me.

He would've gone to the tournament as a key player in both his Junior and Senior year. Since he left, he went to the tournament as a bench warmer his Junior year and as a key player his Senior year.

He could very well be happy, but the fact that he is going dancing this year while we probably aren't doesn't really prove anything since he would've been dancing each of his hypothetical last years with us.

Edited to add: As for Hansbrough, hewould've been part of one of the last teams into the tournamentlast year, just like he is this year. Assuming we don't make it this year, then what ND does next year will determine whether the team he went to had more success than the team he left. Considering what Notre Dame loses, they probably won't make the tournament next season and it will be a wash.

And this isn't even taking into affect any improvement we would've seen with these players still on our team.

Interesting assumption there bud. What position would he play? Would Kodi sit? Ravern? Dee? Barry? Would he have developed into the player he is under Stansbury vs. under Pitino?Doubtful.

He wouldplayed inboth the 2008 and 2009 NCAA tournaments with MSU, instead of sitting the bench for the 2009 tournament and playing in the 2010 one with Louisville.

As I said, I wasn't even taking into account any improvement we would've seen from those guys staying.

If Delk had stayed, he would've graduated last season. Last season we made the tournament; the season before, we made the tournament. So, unless he would've made us worse, he would've made the tournament his last two years here, just like he made the tournament his two years at UL. The differences are that last year's UL team was more successful than either of our last two teams, but he also hardly saw the floor for that more successful team.

Even still, considering he gets over 30 MPG for Louisville, and considering he started as a freshman and sophomore here, I feel confident we would have found some minutes for him on our 3rd in the SECW squad from last year.

He actually gets 21.5 minutes per game at Louisville. And only 6.6 points. It's not like he's setting the world on fire up there.

Umm - please show me how he has developed so much under Pitino especially given that he's had 3 years to make this improvement?

Maybe he's happier at UL but as far as his personal career, he didn't do himself any huge favors

an improvement worth noticing over a four year college career. Points per minute are actually down, although rebounds are up. Someone definitely helped him with FT shooting.
On a personal achievement level, his transfer was a push. He did get to sit through and then participate in two Elite 8 runs, with one more chance for NCAA glory, so he's got that going for him.

Good coaching. If the naysayers think he made a bad move going to UofL, they obviously haven't watched many Card games. Delk is a much better player now.

WOW!

Pointing out the flawsin your original premise that he made such a great decision to transfer because he's dancing and we're not is not in any way defending Stansbury. He has nothing to do with it.

He's also 3 years older and that has to be factored in.

Yes his FT% is better - but if you look he's hot 25 the whole year so that's a very very small sample size. His FG% is really that much different than his freshman year.

I've watched some UL and he has improved but that's to be expected in my opinion.

Basically I don't see a radically different player than I watched at State. It's not like Pitino has turned him into a future NBA draft pick. How much worse do you think his stats would have been as a Sr. at MSU?

Some of you are making it sound like Pitino really coached him up to a level he could not have possibly achieved at MSU and I just don't see it.

Is he happier at UL than he was at MSU? Does he go to class and enjoy the school better? No clue.

Did he show that he was really a stud basketball player that was underused at MSU and should be on the floor to finish games? No, I don't think so.

Did he improve his NBA stock - No.

So I have no clue how to answer your question -you'd have to ask Reggie if in hindsight he thinks he made the best decision. He basically wasted 2 years of not playing to have this year at UL and he's the same role player he was at MSU.

I will admit it's close either way though.

He enjoyed more team success at Louisville last year than he would have in his junior year at State. However, he was on the bench the whole year. Would you rather play a significant part on a second round team or ride the pine for an Elite 8 team? I don't know, but considering the widely believed reason he left was due to issues over playing time, I bet he would take the former.

This year, they are in the tournament but unlikely to do anything of note. Assuming they don't make the Sweet Sixteen, then I would argue we had a more successful season last year than they have this year. I'll take an SECT championship with a first round exit over a second round exit with no championship. But again, I admit it's close.

However, he had to sit out a year at UL, but he wouldn't have here. Considering everything else is so similar, I'd say that this is the tipping point. So, no I don't think he made the right decision.

All that said, he could very well be happier in Louisville; I have no idea.

Edited to word something more clearly.

and as you pointed out he was on an Elite 8 team last year. Ride the pine or not that is still something he would never had experienced under Ricky S.

Anthony Dixon would have made a much better decision to transfer to Alabama and sit on the bench all year behind Ingram. He would have experienced a national championship which is something he would never have experienced under Mullens.

(and yes, I know this is a bogus hypothetical)

What if they flame out in the first round? Then our '09 season was unquestionably better than their '10 season.

Yes, they made the Elite 8. I already covered that. When comparing his junior season to his hypothetical junior season, it's the one thing in the pro column for the decision to transfer. But you can't just gloss over the fact that he was just sitting on the end of the bench. He left because he was dissatisfied with his 26 minutes per game. So, riding the pine is a significant factor in this.
