<div>Sad situation. After the news of his stroke broke last week and little news after that, it was hard to have much hope.</div><div>

and contributed to the raw and unique sound that Springsteen did in the seventies and eighties. Incredible stage presence as well: he'll be greatly missed.

in Greensboro before it was too late. I always liked The Boss, but seeing him and his band live is an experience. They went hard for three solid hours like no band I had seen before. The energy that they had was insane.

in about '81 I believe. Best damn show I've ever seen. It was later reported he had strep throat that night. Played for almost three hours and never missed a beat. Unbelievable performance. RIP Clarence.

That was my 1st concert. He played a half hour after the lights came up.

Caught up with him at a lounge, can't remember which one. Said he was a down-to-earth good guy. Definitely a great concert. Remember rocking out to "Born To Run" at our frat house a lot that year.<div>
</div><div>Good time to be a Bulldog. Football team was very good (much better than the 8-4 record suggests). Baseball team was one of the nation's best. Jeff Malone playing B-Ball. Though a couple of things that stand out, our 7-6 loss to USM, a team we rolled up 500+ yards against, with them only passing mid-field once, and that on a fumbled kick return that they cashed in for the 7 (USM just had our number back then), and Dick Pace completely screwing us over against Ole Miss. I still think that 1981 team may have been our best ever. Lost by 3 to a great Bama team after getting first & goal at their 9. We really only blew it against Mizzou that year. Should have been 10-1 regular season, with a shot at 11-1 and NC consideration.</div>
