Another great article on Tiger...

"It's disrespectful to the game, disrespectful to those he plays with and disrespectful to the great players who built the game before him. Ever remember Jack Nicklaus doing it? Arnold Palmer? When Tom Watson was getting guillotined in that playoff to Stewart Cink, did you see him so much as spit? Only one great player ever threw clubs as a pro -- Bobby Jones -- and he stopped in his 20s when he realized how spoiled he looked."

When Tiger's winning, people like Reilly will praise him for it and talk about his great focus, intensity, etc. and how he's made the game better blah blah blah.

When he isn't winning, he's disrespecting the game.

Shake them haters off, Tiger. I got your back.

I said the other day. He's a great golfer, probably the best ever, but his attitude on the course stinks. And he was unusually bad this past weekend but overall is better than when he first came on tour (when I really couldn't stand his antics). You definitely would think his behavior would have matured a little more than it has by now.

In some situations, who is being disrespectful - tiger or the ******* snapping a picture in his down swing? He has every right to call them whatever he wants in my opinion.

Yea, he shows his frustration. But it is a frustrating sport. Some of his whining is uncalled for, but if this is the worse you can dig up on the guy so be it.

I think it has more to do with the talking heads of the sports world not being able to come up with any original topics to talk about that do not involve Tiger Woods. It's getting painful to watch golf broadcasts or listen to sports radio re: golf. Tiger this, Tiger that. It's like their collective brains freeze when Tiger isn't on top of a leaderboard. Every single current event in golf has to be analogized to Tiger in some form or fashion. When Tiger isn't doing well, naturally, they have to come up with something to talk about.. But, it's never anything different in golf, just different about Tiger. So - here we are with discussion on his on-course demeanor.

Newsflash: Golf IS bigger than Tiger Woods. Just not to ESPN, radio talk-show hosts, and your casual golf observer. Ratings would certainly go down, but if Tiger were gone tomorrow (or never existed), golf, as a major player in spectator sports, would still be around.

the person he is playing with hitting (if he hits first of course) is 17ing BS. i think this is one of the reasons why many of the folks playing in the final group with him lose. tiger may have to hear a camera click but the other guy has to see a thousand people running around while in his backswing.

prefer the Vijay Singhs of the world that would have a blank, emotionless expression even if a nuclear warhead was dropped in the middle of a final round at Pebble Beach?

Tiger Woods is a fiery competitor and when he doesn't play well, he gets pissed. He has hundreds of millions of dollars, a pin-up model for a wife, and a great family, yet he is just as emotional about golf now as he was when he broke into the game. Above all, I really don't think he gives a damn what anyone on this board or anyone in the media thinks. He cares about winning and that's about it.

As far as the club tossing and cursing goes, I refuse to believe that there's anyone here that can say he has never said something or done something out of character during the heat of competition.

At the end of the day, if you want to believe that Tiger just isn't as classy(sorry for the rule breakage) as other golfers, so be it. But enjoy watching your classy guys and the respective 1.2 viewer rating as opposed to triple ratings for any tournament involving Tiger. There's a reason that the majority of the world loves watching him and it has nothing to do with tossing an occasional club.

fishwater would rather watch someone who isn't as good as tiger but who is someone who has "character"? he must be a state fan.

Tiger Woods is simply not doing it "the right way". Now that I think about it, could Fishwater = Croom?

I think that tiger needs to act like a gentleman when he plays golf, a gentleman's game. He just needs to control his temper, or maybe take some pills to lower his blood pressure.

their hero, tiger, is being called out and rightfully so... you're man love for him has you blinded and your feelings hurt; get over it...

he needs to grow up and respect the game the way it should be respected and not be so self absorbed in himself

he's been given a free pass so far and the other golfers would never be allowed to get away with what he does

as we with our vulgar names, our affinity for the number 17, condom avatars, and ample bosomed ladies gracing our topics and sidebar, continue to argue on whether or not a man who donates vast amounts of money to charity and revolutionizes a sport, we concern ourselves with his temper. really? is this the same group who gave cohen crap for being vulgar in the dugout? no, so many of you said "thats just the way they talk in the dugout." and when croom dropped the f bomb clearly for all to see on espn, did you explode with rage? nope. or when mullen started to get crap for his mouth? you guys were all in support.

get over it or at the very least be consistent. and don't use the excuse, "golf is a gentlemens game" considering that it is pretty popular to have a few beers and smoke a cigar during the round, which as adult as it is, is hardly gentlemanly.

I MUCH preferred watching Bjorn Borg play tennis over John McEnroe. I would rather see a professional ACT like a professional. Being jubilant when you win or disappointed when you lose to me doesn't equate to slinging clubs and throwing out f-bombs especially when you have the eyes of the world upon you. If a weekend hacker wants to behave that way, have at it, because nobody but maybe their buddies are going to see it anyway.

Golf is a sport. Typically, when ppl are playing a sport, and they are not doing well, they get upset. It might be a tad unprofessional to throw your club, but it is not deserving of all the media flack he's been getting.

I do that same stuff on the course and so do many of you. Plus he gets paid when he wins. i have no idea how crazy i would act if i was playing for a million dollars and i shaked one into the trees.

He sold his soul to ESPN and now gets to write a few paragraphs that sound like your average message board whining. But hey, more power to the guy for getting paid to write something that awful and inane.

I particularly can not stand when he misses a putt and has to pause and stand there with a look of disgust on his face. Often times, his playing partner is having to wait for him to stop pouting to line up a putt. I wish someone would tell him to get the f* out of the way just once.

I attended a PGA championship on Sunday a few years ago (Tiger won), and I can attest that this is much worse in person than it looks on TV. The shitstains that follow Tiger around join together to become this collective mob of rancid stupidity. They have no clue what par or bogey mean, they just want to watch Tiger Woods. Thousands of people were moving and shuffling around before and after Tiger's shots (but dead still during), but the poor sap that was grouped with him didn't have that luxury, even with the course marshals practically screaming at them to stand still and shut the hell up. Strength in numbers I guess. The worst part was immediately after his swing, when people would begin to jostle for a good position to see the next shot. People would start running to the next tee after Tiger would miss, say, a 15 foot birdie putt, but the guy grouped with him still would have a 10 footer for birdie. It was pathetic.

"when mullen started to get crap for his mouth?"

Have I missed something? I thought Mullen was the guy asking folks to watch their mouths around him.

idiots were everywhere and they always ran right after his shots to go try to see him hit the next shot. the marshals didn't have a chance to stop them.

The guy has walked in a player's line, walked to the next hole while his pairing was putting, and has broken a club over his head out of disgust. His tantrums are much worse than Tiger's and as far as I know, he's never been suspended or even reprimanded.
