The filly just won the Preakness by 3/4 length over Mind that Bird. If Mind that Bird had another 1/2 furlong, he would have caught her. He got stuck in the pack, then broke on the outside and accelerated on the outside.

you got to wonder why he waited so long to make his break, it cost them a win

It seems like she had a great shot at the triple crown. Was pulling for Mine that bird as well. He showed he wasn't a fluke. Good race.

Her former owners chose another route and it seemed to work well for them. Sold her for $7.5 million 4 days after the big win at the Oaks. She didn't even run a great race today and pretty much led wire to wire. Really great filly.

all time greatness. Guess it was a good choice for them. 7.5 mil isn't a bad payday. But why not run her in the Derby, win, and sell her for 7.5 mil?

Paydays in the horse business are hard to come by. They chose the safe route. Plus the previous owners shared the same philosophy as many owners, that the triple crown is a showcase for stallions. They felt like colts should run against colts and fillies against fillies.

Her owners didn't run her in the derby because of sexism. Fillies should race with fillies. Also, they were afraid of the horse who was arrived in a horse trailer towed all the way from New Mexico by a pickup truck.
