The Rockies have since issued a statement exonerating the man after an investigation. Then they doubled down on their racism and bigotry language, and strangely enough, did not apologize to the guy whose life everyone tried to ruin over something harmless.

The funny thing is that neither the Jussie Smollett nor the Miss State Student story even passed the smell test.

When I saw the news on Jussie I thought, "20 degree weather in the Windy City with baseball caps? Jussie made an impromptu trip to the subway shop at 2 AM in the morning and two MAGA supporters happened to see him with nooses and bleach in their pockets?". From what I read, the police started looking at security camera footage and immediately knew Jussie was lying. Even black comedians made fun of Jussie, "What Trump supporter even knows who Jussie Smollett is? They don't watch Empire"....

In the case of the MSU students shouting at all of the black Vandy parents who sit together... Have you seen the size of the Vandy players who would be their kids? My bet is that their dads are pretty damned stout. If the MSU students did what the 'sports writer who follows the Vandy team' said, they would have been bull-rushed and got their *** beat.

We have reached a point where the demand for racist incidents greatly outstrips the supply, so we have to manufacture them out of nothing or people have to do deliberate hoaxes. It's somewhat surreal. It's simultaneously a sign of our societal progress and sickness. It's good that racist incidents have become so much rarer. But what the hell is wrong with us that we feel the need to make them up?
