You know I get the theory behind take official visits, it's on their dime talk... but what does it mean when he is taking unofficial visits? Not going to lie this does not sit right with me at all! Take all the officials you want, but taking an unofficial visit to another school while committed is not a good sign IMO

Seriously I don't get it man. He might as well waited to commit, because he is still exploring his options as far as I can see. You don't take unofficial visits if you are not.

http://www.scout.com/Article/Four-S...mit-Bookie-Radley-Hiles-Will-Visit--107013163

"On the recruiting front, Radley-Hiles has been a longtime Nebraska commit but will take a few visits.

"I'll be in Clemson this weekend," Radley-Hiles said. "It's just an unofficial visit but I'm looking forward to it. I visited over the summer but I was mostly with the team and didn't get to talk much with Coach (Dabbo) Swinney. I want to get to know him a little more and see what Death Valley is all about."

Radley-Hiles said he'll likely return to Clemson for an official visit and is hoping to take all five trips if he can.

"I plan to visit Clemson, Nebraska, Florida and Texas," Radley-Hiles said. "For that last trip, I'm looking at Oregon, Notre Dame, UCLA and Michigan. I still feel good about Nebraska but I just want to take these trips to experience the recruiting process a little and see what the game atmosphere is like at the different colleges."

I hope he sticks but a passive, bend but don't break defense thats goal isn't to shut the opposing team down but to simply limit them to one less point than our offense scores wouldn't excite me if I were a big time playmaker on defense.

Diaco is going to have to dispel this perception preferrably with play rather than simply words

Radley-Hiles is one commit we can't afford to lose. It is that simple!

He is responsible for Joshua Moore and Chase Williams committing here. Yes I get that Mike Riley, Keith Williams and Donte Williams had some say in it, but they came here and visited mainly on the recommendation of Bookie. Don't act like this is worthless information, where there is smoke there is fire

Exactly. A hometown kid from Nebraska that was an All American took the following visits: Kansas, Texas, San Diego State, Oklahoma. He was always going to Nebraska, but wanted to use the trips.. It happens all of the time, and we don't need to hash this.

Were those unofficial visits... Yeah I don't think so. That is the reason for my post! There is a huge difference between official and unofficial visits

If he isn't solid, then why did he bring in all of these other recruits? Your argument can be seen as a reason to have hope in how solid he is. He wants to play with these guys.

And if he is wavering, you better believe Josh and Chase are peer recruiting him right back.

Nothing to see here unless he reopens his commitment, in my opinion.

It isn't that it isn't worthwhile. Its just old. If he comes he comes, if he doesn't he doesn't. The sun will come out tomorrow and there will be other players who will take his place. But rehashing this every single time he speaks isn't going to change his process.
agreed it is what iit is the issue I think most have is that when these "I am committed but want to still visit other schools" thing happens it does not go well for us

When you were 18, would you have thought 5 free trips to party at the biggest schools across the country was cool? And to hang out with the best football teams and meet future (and probably even a couple of current) NFL stars?

He couldn't be stumping much harder for NU, I don't know what you want from the kid. Visits or no, you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT take your foot off the gas when recruiting a kid of his caliber.

Holy crap guys are you just mocking me right now? He's taking an unofficial visit on his own dime. Which means is not a free trip!

Sounds like he's going there with a friend that's committed there. I guess you can call it peer recruiting, but doesn't seem like that big of a deal. Regardless, can't get caught up in it. The way I see it, his friend returns the favor and visits here with him. Winking

which is why I said, pretend he isn't coming here. That when if he starts classes here in January, as he states he is, then they will be surprised and not disappointed. I just don't understand the Chicken Little reaction to everything a recruit does.

Maybe he committed to NU because he's gonna come here, and there was no reason to wait. Maybe he's an energetic, highly positive, highly vocal young man that's gonna go out of his way to support other people. Heck, I don't know, maybe he'll decommit.

It's gonna feel like a long time between now and the two signing days.

I don't think anyone is mocking you, it appears you are looking for people to jump onboard your train of thought and there just aren't takers.

To the contrary this type of system is built for shut down corners.

You do have to find the right fits along the line because you give up some personal glory for team glory....

But a good chunk of the "but not break" part of the defense relies on cb like bookie to put their man in an island. It's also what allows more variety and risk taking in the front.

With so so players the system is rather vanilla. With good players there is a ton of variety that can be introduced in the game plan.

This is the advantage that schools like OsU have pretty much no matter what system is run

I believe the piece by al groh summed it up nicely. If you don't have multiple players who are good at a couple things, a lot of the advantages of a 3-4 are blunted.

Because there's no mystery who the fourth rusher is, if only one guy is qualified to do it

We can be frank here. Bookie is probably coming here. He has to look around though. Plans change.

We already have folks wondering if Riley and diaco will be fired this year. It would be irresponsible of bookie to not have a backup plan

Bookie can do what he wants. I'm not going to take personal offense because he happens to enjoy people and places that have nothing to do with our program
These guys must be a real joy for their wives. "YOU LOOK AT THAT GUY? YOU FLIRTING WITH THE WAITER? WHO TEXTED YOU?"

Don't you think a bunch of grown men could stop obsessing over how a high school kid spends his weekends?
I buy Nebraska Shirts, Coozies, Season Tickets with donations, Hats, Gas to drive from Omaha to see them play ect... ect... ect...

I am on a husker message board just like you. We are all "Obsessed" over Nebraska football. Bookie is the glue that holds this recruiting class together that is future of the team I spend a lot of time and money on supporting.

So yes I am going to obsess over a 18 year old that could possible ruin any momentum that we have on the recruiting front.

If he decommits and that decommit has no bearing on losing all the other recruits, then I don't give a rats @$$.... You can't prove it will have no bearing, that is where the problem lies

I want to win again, and Bookie will be a big part of us getting there.

You can't prove he will decommit. So as of right now your position hinges on the assumption that any kid who takes a lot of visits will decommit. Which is not accurate.

I think NU will need to finish with a respectable record and/or play well down the stretch (including the bowl game) for recruits to feel like the program is headed in the right direction. If this is another 7-6 type of season, with all the negativity that comes with it, then we're going to see several decommits.

Nebraska needs to keep recruiting hard. A lot can change between now and signing day.

Just because it's unofficial, doesn't mean he's paying much if he's going with others. Hell, look at all the guys Keyshawn brought in multiple times for unofficials. Or when whole AAU squads come to visit Nebrasketball on an unofficial. Not worth reading into unless you know the full story one way or the other.

From what I have observed from the team and coaching staff the last couple of years, worrying about whether or not a 17 year old will make other visits is the least of our problems.

He's 18.....he needs to be playing the field. If NU has a good season and some positive things happen I think they likely sign him.

If things get sideways he may go somewhere else. That's life.
