Just wondering how this is going to work this week...all this rain...80% on Thursday. ..90% of heavy rain on Friday and Saturday. ..80% on Sunday...60% on Monday...no sun till Tuesday. ..Giles playing two tough games in a matter of a few days is possible. ..or could it be cancelled or postponed...thoughts

Saturday is a SAT test date, so I wouldn't see many teams opting to play on Saturday either. Either play on a muddy grass field in the rain, find a turf field to move the game to, or play on Monday.

Models are showing up to 8-10" of rain in some spots. Historic flooding is associated with those levels of rain. Could be an interesting weekend

Friday and Saturday may not be good days for teams to be traveling out and about on school buses, especially over the back roads necessary to get to many of the rural schools.

As of noon Wednesday, three games originally scheduled for Friday night have been moved to Thursday night — Luray at Wilson Memorial, Buffalo Gap at Riverheads and Stonewall Jackson at Stuarts Draft. The games at Wilson and Riverheads will start at the normal time — 7 p.m. — while Stuarts Draft's game will be played at Western Albemarle High School in Crozet, also at 7 p.m.

The two remaining games — Robert E. Lee at Broadway and Harrisonburg at Waynesboro — were still on for Friday at 7 p.m.

Rain is still in the forecast for Thursday, but with heavier precipitation (at least 2 to 4 inches, according to AccuWeather) in the works for Friday and Saturday, the move to Thursday was the right one, said Wilson Memorial Athletic Director Craig Flesher.

"We looked at the forecast for Friday and Saturday, and we saw Thursday as the best option," he said. "With all the rain forecasted, if we moved it to Monday, it would be hard on the field."

Page County has moved its home football game with East Rockingham to Thursday at 7 p.m. as well.

Thursday is only option, may not have power by Monday, may not be able to play next Friday if it hits like they are saying it could.
