That's certainly a roll of the dice. If he pitches well then you have CC on full rest for game 5 and a probable 3-2 lead, then Hughes and Pettite ready for 6 and 7 if needed, not that Hughes did anything to instill confidence in game 2. If AJ doesn't get it done tonight........deep trouble. The thought of Cliff Lee looming in game 7 almost makes the next three must wins. I just think you can't go down 3-1 with a head case like AJ. I'd worry about tonight and tonight only, and that means CC on three days rest tonight and then again in game 7.

Burnett is 3-1 with a 2.68 ERA vs the Rangers in 6 starts for the Yanks and didn't allow more than 3 runs in any game

He's also 1-7 with an ERA north of 6.50 since the first of August. The bright spots in that time period have been few and far between. He may get it done tonight, but I doubt there are a lot of Yankee fans who feel confident about it. As has been the case almost his entire career, you just never know with the guy. I still say it's a huge roll of the dice.

....is because of who the Rangers are putting out there. The Yankees should actually be able to put some runs on the board, and hopefully keep up if AJ lays another egg. They should feel like they are hitting softballs compared to what they saw last night. It is a gamble though, and one I am pretty nervous about. A loss tonight guarantees you will have to beat Lee in game 7 to move oin, and I just dont see that happening. Although I will say I would like to have Hughes and Pettitte on regular rest in 6 and 7 if it goes that way.

This team has been playing like **** since the beginning of September though, so I wouldn't be completely shocked for them to lose this series. I actually had the Rays in the WS for the AL before the post season started

hit or miss with AJ, but I'm ok with it. He was brought in to win big games. He didn't have that bad of a postseason last year. We should put up enough runs against Hunter, regardless. Hey, fishwater you're a moron.

I would rather have a rested pitcher go out to the mound vs a tired pitcher. I know that's Earth shattering, but the thing is, you pitch CC tonight, then you have to either go with Burnett in game five, or the other pitchers on short rest.

I think with the game being in New York, and who the Rangers are pitching, going with AJ is clearly the right decision.

How are you a Yankees Fan? Are you or your family from NY? If so then good for you, but coming from Mississippi you should either be a Braves, Cardinals or Rangers Fan. I just can't see how everyone in Mississippi jumps on the NY bandwagon. They Suck!!! Are they a good team, yes they are, the best money can buy. It's not even fair with the payroll they have, they should win the World Series every year... **** the Yankees........

And I am a Yankees fan because Don Mattingly was my favorite player growing up. And as you can go check out and see, the Mattingly years were not exactly glorious years in the Bronx

What in the hell is the difference inbeing a Cards fan from a Yankees fan if you are from MS? I know alot of peopl ewho like the Giants because of Will Clark. Why those 3 teams. Ridiculous.

I just hate the Yankees. I think they win tonight though... Now why are you a Yankees fan? Rambis played mainly for the LA Lakers, never NY, even though he was drafted by the Knicks... Now what did you make on the ACT?

Game 1 versus Minnesota: 4 runs in 6 innings
Game 1 versus Texas: 5 runs in 4 innings

I don't see the upside in pitching him on short rest if he's going to give you a performance like that. They could probably reasonably hope for Burnett to do as well.

I'm not saying that Sabathia has been terrible, but he certainly has looked nothing like Cliff Lee, Tim Lincecum, Roy Halladay, etc.

Both of those starts came on 7-8 days rest, and he has said himself he doesn't like doing that. I don't mind him pitchin on short rest. Just not sure about Hughes and Pettitte
