about Monday Night Wrastlin' at The Mid South Coliseum in Memphis back in the 80's. It would be epic.

People that didn't live in Memphis around that time don't know how big of a deal that was. Imagine having WWE raw in the same city every week...that's what it was.

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

1 show would do it no justice. It would have to be broken down into a min-series.

Didn't realize that was in Memphis all the time. Figured it had to be somewhere in the....mid south. Duh.

watch wrestling on Saturday morning (Ch. 5 in Memphis) which would leave with some sort of "cliffhanger" that would conclude Monday night at the coliseum. So you begged your parents to take you Monday night so you wouldn't be the loser on the playground Tuesday asking what happened, or God forbid have to wait until the next Saturday morning to find out. Genius.

meant that Saturday morning cartoons were officially over for that week.
Live from the Channel 5 studios!

for rasslin' fans-Deadspin has a "Dead Wrestler of the Week" feature that-despite the curt name-is well written and centered around the regional old school Mid-South, WCW and WWF circuits.

Don't forget the whole Andy Kaufman saga. That was pure gold. I still remember the Letterman show to this day.

Also, Ric Flair vowing he would never fight Jerry Lawler in Memphis again. If I remember correctly, Lawler was supposed to lose to Flair. Jerry Calhoun did a fast count and Lawler won. Ric Flair got mad, took his belt and went home. The federation the belt belonged to declared it a non sanctioned match and Flair kept his title.</p>

I could go on and on....most of the few good memories from my youth revolve around Mid-South Wrestling.

based in Louisiana, Arkansas, roughly half of Mississippi and a small part of Oklahoma. It was owned by Bill Watts and had major shows at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.

Their weekly Saturday show was broadcast from Shreveport at the Irish McNeil Boy's Club.
