I think we need to bring back the patented Jackie Wayne quarterback pooch punt play. Everybody in the stadium knew we weren't going to snap the ball on that early fourth down call at Auburn. Wasted snap and a wasted timeout when we desperately needed it. Would have been nice if, when it was clear Auburn wasn't going to bite (like, before the play was even called) if Dak could have backed into the pooch formation. Of course, in that situation, I think we were on our side of the field, so not really applicable, but if we are between the 40's maybe.

I think we take for granted how awesome King Jackie was with ST. Croom was horrific with them, Mullen is average at best.

I wouldn't even say average. Our punt hang time and coverage is exceptional but other than that we're pretty bad. Can't get touchbacks or field goals

It'll never happen. I watched Chad Bumphis boom some punts in highschool. I always said it would be a waste if he's never used in a punt situation. Four years later I'd have to say it was a missed opportunity.

We seem to be more interested in kickers trying to pass or run for a first down.

We get touchbacks. 8 out of 15 kickoffs this year. We are averaging just under 40 yds per kick return. Opponent punt return yardage is negative. I would say we are a little better than average.
