is this how its gonna be all season for you?...just targeting Stewart after each bad game?
i assume itll be too much for you to actually give him props each time he plays well or does well in certain categories though.

Everyone has a bad game at some point, and Texas Tech is no pushover opponent. Could it be that they played great defense against us and caused us to take bad shots? Just wondering....

to point out that I don't think Randy Stewart should be getting the minutes he does. He in my opinion should be coming off the bench. I will be happy to post his stats after every game and I will say I am wrong when he does have good games but I am willing to bet that it will be something like 3 bad games to every 1 good game. We shall see.

change your mind. I agree with you that randy "brick" stewart needs to sit more. Stans should give him two more chances (because he is a junior) to start and show what he's got. If he does not preform the way he needs to (10+ points) then he will be replaced by Osby.

and who would take his minutes?...
his current backup is Phil Turner. if you seriously think he should get more minutes, this thread is done right there.
Riley Benock? a talented and fundamentally sound shooter that gets burned on D and is hesitant to shoot?

who?

Bost? that would mean Beckham would take over PG duties full time and Bost would play off the ball more. sweet, we could have even more Gary Ervinesque drives to the basket by Bost(though i do think he is a good player).

so who takes his place in the starting lineup? and who then gets the minutes you take away from him? a perimeter of 2 freshmen and 1 rarely used last season sophmore?...mmm, that should be fun.

be shared more between all that you mentioned. Let Stewart come off the bench for a couple of games. He needs to be pushed somehow in order to get him to be more of a consistent player. Maybe it is the motivation he needs.

Perhaps bump Ravern to the 2 along with Phil Turner (I dont' object to him playing more there....granted I recall his shot disappearing last season...plus he is in tents on defense) bring Cody to the 3 (I am prepared for several to cry about his slow feet and guarding 3's in the SEC) and play Osby more at the 4. Hope that Brian Johnson gets healthy fast so that he and Osby can split time @ 4. If unable to at least try this, tell Stewart to STOP shooting. We have a few scorers other than him. I still think it will be a fun season. I like our young talent.

For starters.
Consider the numbers for this season so far:
Turner is shooting 46% from the field, 40% from 3, and 80% from the line with 3 rebounds per game
Stewart is shooting 41% from the field, 38% from 3, and 59% from the line with 2.4 rebounds per game.
At present, Stewart is getting a little over twice as many minutes as Turner.
I don't thingk that ist is as big as a stretch as you are making it out to be.
I wouldn't mind seeing Ravern at the 2, and Kodi at the 3, but that is a stretch and could be dangerous defensively.
I worry a little bit about Stans blindly sticking with Stewart and hoping that he comes out of it, kind of the way he would blindly allow Jamont to "create" and hope for good results. What it does is create somewhat of a double standard and piss off other members of the team. In Stewart's case, he seems to be a nice guy and a team player, so it probably isn't as big a pain in the *** as it was for Jamont to showboat, but the fact remains he is not doing so well, especially against better competition.

a starting lineup so here goes. The idea is share more minutes and hopefully this will produce a more consistent Stewart.

PG Bost
G Turner
F Ravern
F Osby
C Jarvis

I would like to see that lineup too.
Osby needs more PT.

Stans will always go with the more experienced players, why? b/c he just does.
Randy does play good defense, except when he fouls on a three-point shot...

except that Turner is an out of control player. he has consistently shown that he will take the early and illadvised shot and try to do more than he is capable.
i agree that Turner's numbers look better than Stewart's. but what i really think is that neither of em have been all that consistent or impressive. and since Stewart has attempted damn near three times as many shots as Turner has, and more than three times as many 3pt shots while still shooting basically the same FG%, ill take him.
Turner is 4-10 from deep...not exactly much to go off of. history shows he is an inconsistent, wild, and poorly timed shooter. plus he is absurdly careless with the ball.

Stewart hasnt been all that impressive yet this year, but the alternatives arent all that great.
