Great recruiting, it is going to be fun watching these star recruits compete. Maybe this is super great recruiting?
I get and accept what you're saying, but my point was more about the Raney boys believing in themselves enough to take the leap of faith. Most don't take up the challenge so I respect that.

Well, to be fair, there are lots of ways to get in the lineup with shirting times, weight changes and so on. They are also super interested in World Medals with Greco, so the RTC is super important to them.

But yeah, pretty tough to walk into a hornets nest willingly.

I understand the RTC is an important component here, which goes directly to DT's hire. You build it and they will come. With gray shirts, red shirts, and Oly shirts, you can always fix any problems which arise.

Im not quite sure how greyshirts work? I was under the impression that once enrolled, your eligibility clock starts?

We call them blue shirts at PSU. The year before you enroll. Since most are RTC qualified, they have full access to the support system before enrolling. Adds more flexibility.

Oh, that really makes it simple. I couldn't wrap my head around it and it is that simple.
With Olympic level recruits, it gives you 7 years post HS to complete 4 years. Some guys could conceivably get 8 years to complete 4 if timed right with the olympic cycles. That's the added benefit of recruiting the high end guys. It adds flexibility to the equation.

... and that doesn't even count Medshirts which seem to be given out like candy these days.

I knew that, just never thought about NOT enrolling. Since we never seemed to do it, I never dug into it.

I know you knew that. Wasn't dissing you. My point was that this is what Cael built and what DT is building. With an RTC you attract the elite recruits, but which also adds to the flexibility within the program. What you'll see is more OSU guys being NC material as freshmen because they have had two years in the room by the time they become starters. It's amazingly simple when you think it through and wonder why no one else thought of it. I'm not saying anything you guys don't already know. I just appreciate paradigm shifts in business models. It's my thing I guess.

The term "blueshirt" is Penn State specific and refers to wrestlers who skipped their senior year high school season to move to State College to roll at M2/NLWC. Not the same as a traditional grayshirt where the year of enrollment is deferred.

I think that's called a green shirt in football. Football has something else called a blue shirt that wouldn't apply to wrestling I think.

Why not correct a mistake you see like Cali Nittany does?
I tried to cover for you, too — in a slightly different way, but my post got nuked.

My apologies to the Mod(s). That kind of joking has been acceptable on the other major Rivals boards, and I haven’t spent enough time here to learn the ropes (or is it lassos?). I was just fooling around and didn’t realize it would be a problem.

Haha. We all make mistakes Slush. Too much going on and I slipped. Still, Willie would be better served making friends. Life is too short for drive by shootings.

The mods are terrible here. I live in fear of their retribution.

Slush is a good guy. His running through the town square naked at 2am was an incident that he regrets.
Agree on point #1.

I really feel bad for Iowa board. They have a 30 pages thread up for Raneys and were optimistic. They must feel like middle child now between PSU and OSU.
I'm going to go take a look at that thread. Oh wait, they banned me. Still not sure why.

Brands getting Bo will get them another five years or so. Congrats, I guess.

I think the opposite.

If Bo struggles any, that seat gets hot!

I think Bo is already starting to feel the pressure to succeed. Can you imagine being 17 with a million in your pocket? Trying to live up to that payday is difficult for anybody. Lost twice in his last two tourneys. Blaze went up a weight to challenge him and won 5-1 I think.

Why are people questioning Bo’s ability in college all of a sudden? Is it just because he committed to Iowa?

I was impressed with Bo even in defeat. He's going to be a killer in college, unfortunately
He just got beat by two guys that will Wrestle in college?

Makes me question his dominance ability 100% and his ability to win championships. He will be very good, but he’s far from a sure thing champ.

Give me Bo any day of the week over Blaze. Blaze may win more but his style makes me want to gnaw my eyes out. Outside of Jax, the killer in that group is Duke as much as I hate to say it.

I'm not sure how you can hold that against him. Blaze, Jax, Bo, Duke - These high school kids are quite frankly freaks as far as how good they are. They are wrestling at the highest level senior events that the United States has to offer and they're winning matches. Any of those guys could run off a string of national championships in college. Bo's style fits both Iowa and collegiate tournament wrestling perfectly also with his relentless pace - like Messenbrink's pace.
Having said that, I think Jax is the best one of the whole bunch. I watch his matches and don't even understand how he does what he does sometimes.

I don’t hold anything against him. He got beat by two guys this weekend that will be competing in college next season. Which could suggest (FS is different than Folk) that he may not be a dominant 4x national champ.

Hes pretty developed maturity wise and is a great Wrestler. He creates serious action, has a high IQ, works his *** off and I’m pretty sure he’s a good kid too, from good parents.

Jax has the highest ceiling (Vegas and Wolbert do too) out of the bunch mentioned in your post. They are all can’t miss recruits it appears.

This made it sound like you were questioning whether he could win any championships at all to me. That's why I replied.
