I don't think they are expected to be much better this year, so I would definitely put them on par with Memphis, and at least last year they wouldn't have been even Top 25 in 1AA.

Florida's performance was unimpressive. You can't learn too much from Week 1 based on who the teams played except for teams that underperformed (See: my team and Florida), especially since the only team that played a really difficult opponent was LSU, and that opponent was far from what it was supposed to be. I'd say LSU was the next least impressive behind us and Florida.

EAST:

1. UGA - The O looked good enough for me.
2. Florida - I can only hope their offense coming back to earth is a result of Mullen being in Vegas.
3. South Carolina - Southern gave them plenty of opportunities to look good.
4. UT - because UK and Vandy dont deserve the spot.
5. UK - time will tell if they can climb higher....louisville sucks bad.
6. Vandy

WEST:

1. Bama - I think they are going to lose a couple of games.
2. Arkansas - The west will certainly shake out some this week.
3. LSU - I think they could end up at 1 or 2 with the talent that is maturing.
4. Auburn - If Newton would have picked us, they would be 5.
5. State - My heart says 3rd, my head says 5th. My head also says that we are a rented mule away from the 2nd spot. Damn this Thurday game has too much at stake for us this year.
6. OM - Bless their hearts.

LSU was outgained 436-313. They spent all last year living just like that, with pathetic offense and average at best defense.

That UNC team they faced was a team that most true Top 25 teams would've handled fairly easily. LSU is not a Top 25 team. They may remain there for a little while, and Miles may luck his way into finishing there yet again, but that's not a Top 25 team. I expect LSU to beat Vandy, but I don't think it'll be easy.

LSU had 11 first downs against a depleted UNC defense.

Before you start, yes I am aware what my team did Saturday. That doesn't change the fact that LSU is overrated, and I don't think it's unreasonable to think they'll finish in the bottom half of the West this year, or they should unless Miles pulls out another starstruck year. It's hard to go back to back years winning 9 games when your offense sucks.

I think LSU is headed down fast. They might get things turned around, but I think out of State's next 3 games (Auburn, LSU, UGA) I honestly think we're just as likely to beat LSU in BR than Auburn or UGA at home.

that Gary Crowton is going to get Les Miles fired. And it may very well be this season. But until it happens, you have to rank them there. As much as people want to talk about them barely winning, when you look at the other side of it, they were close to playing in Atlanta last season also:

Fla- they were down 10-3 with 8 minutes left in the game
Bama- They led the game with 10 minutes left, Bama scores when Peterson cramps up and leaves the game, and LSU gets screwed out of an INT down 6
Mississippi- colossal time mismanagement gives Rebels a win

They werent that far off from having a great year...they finished 9-3 and were 3rd overall in the SEC

This season, they will beat Vandy, Tenn, and probably beat us to start the SEC 3-0. They also get WV at home- if they win that, LSU is 5-0. I mean, what more can you ask of Miles? And they then head to a Fla team that is very beatable for a good team. Miles may crash and burn, but it hasnt happened yet.

As I said, they had a 30-10 lead for a reason

Your denial of LSU's mediocrity is proof of where your true allegiance lies.

OM completely dominated them last year and the game should've never come down to that, everyone admits that but you. They weren't going to win the Bama game regardless. They were a lot closer to going 6-6 than they were to Atlanta, MSU did everything but beat them, UGA could've been a loss, and Arky was an OT game.

And while you say they were up 30-10 for a reason, there was also a reason why they were two dropped passes away from losing the game at the end to a team missing most every one of its starters

"Your denial of LSU's mediocrity is proof of where your true allegiance lies"

I hope we become "mediocre" one day

yards don't win games- points do. Ask Navy about getting inside Maryland's 20 7 times yesterday and scoring twice, they will probably tell you the same thing.

You can call Miles an idiot.
You can say their program is dropping.
You can say he is going to get fired.

But until they actually start losing and all this happens- you are wrong. Plain and simple. They have tough games against us and WV to start, but being at home and at night- they are very likely going to win those games. And if they do, they are going to be 5-0. And if they start 5-0, there is not much you can say about Miles.

I never said yards win games, but any real coach will tell you (which would not be you) that they are a very good indicator of who the better team was. Take for example the OM-LSU game last year. In the 1st quarter, OM returns a pick for a TD that gets called back by a bogus block in the back, they again score a TD on that drive that gets called back for a bogus penalty. On the same drive when they line up to kick a chip shot FG, LSU blocks it and returns it for a TD, which is a 14 point swing. That's absolute luck, as was them recovering an onside kick. They were absolutely lucky to be in the OM game.

Them returning a punt 97 yards for a TD and atippedINT for a TD vs MSU are things that just don't happen that often, the ball just bounced their way, luck again, just as when Chad Jones just happened to be in the passing lane, luck.

They aren't going to continue to win games on the last play of the game like they did vs UNC when two passes were dropped at the end of the game. Their luck is going to run out.

There are such things as teams that deserve to win game that they lose, and unless you're an LSU homer like yourself any team can tell you that MSU was the better team vs LSU last year, clear as day. Navy was absolutely the better team than Maryland yesterday, they lost the game, Maryland didn't win it and didn't deserve to. Nothing bothers a coach worse than that
And if LSU goes 8-4 again, which they probably will, that will be mediocre by the standards that Saban set for them and mediocre for the type of talent that they have

PS... Were you posting on 6pack during the game on Saturday b/c you never come to any of the games or was it b/c you'rethat loser that gets on his phone to post messages while at the game?

you keeping talking about how the team with the most yards should have won, yet didnt.

Knocking down passes 98% of the time isnt luck, its because you are in position to make a play.
Blocking FG's aren't luck- it's well-coached teams making plays against teams not as well-coached
bogus calls? C'mon mane, that's loser talk and you know it.

Stop with the ********- reality is they were 9-3 last season. I predicted them to go 8-4 this season, so I won't be surprised in the least if they do. And if they fire Miles, that's gonna suck- because Mullen is on their short list of replacements. But that's fine- if they want to fire their most successful coach in history- let them. History says they should be enjoying this time- SEC titles for them are hard to come by.

Not that it's any of your 17'ing business, but I posted during the game because I live 5 hours away and have a 16 month old child. Combine that with a wife that works 60 hours a week and there is no way to make every home game. Feel free to look me up when we play Georgia- I'll give you an autograph

I have to agree with C34. LSU has fallen flat the last 2 years. Les Miles is not a very good coach. To quote my coonass bro-in-law " we are the only school in the state and Jefferson is the best we can come up with at QB".

No way we're the 2nd best team in the West after beating Memphis. No freaking way.

There's still 3 teams in the west that beat us by at least 3 touchdowns last year. Beat one of them (Thursday is one) then we'll talk about higher than 5th.

While the LSU game ended up close, they still beat a decent ACC team. Yes I'm aware they were missing many starters.

The more you post the more increasingly apparent it becomes why all you ever will be is a private school girls assistant coach that left b/c you were never going to move up in the coaching ranks.

Chad Jones blocking that pass wasn't b/c he was in position and they were better coached, we were obviously better coached on the play, we caught them completely off guard and had a receiver with no one within 10-12 yards of him. Jones was completely out of position, and it was complete luck that we didn't score a TD on that play. To say otherwise is idiotic. And you say blocking a FG vs OM was b/c LSU was better coached, seriously? I wouldn't completely call it luck, but it's something that happens less than 5% of the time so when it does it's definitely fortunate for your team.

If there were a stat to show each time a team outgained another by 100 yards, I'd bet that team wins over 80% of the time.

And who would want an autograph of a guy who'sbiggest accomplishment in life is being an assistant high school girls basketball coach that posts 100 times per day on a message board?
