Saw this on a Rivals board. Top 5.

Trent Richardson
Knile Davis
Marcus Lattimore
Michael Dyer
Vick Ballard
Tough call cause that still leaves guys like Bolden, Jeff Demps, McCalleb, and that kid at UGA off, but thats mine.

I think Knile Davis is going to put up huge numbers next year. If for no other reason than he'll run against 6 and 7 men fronts all year.

I would put Lattimore above Davis, and I wonder if Ballard will suffer from not having Sherrod next year.

I would have Lattimore, Davis, then Dyer and Richardson about tied at 3rd. I like Lattimore slightly more than Davis, but I wouldn't be surprised either if Davis blew the doors off the other backs and put up crazy numbers.

Maybe I just didn't watch enough SEC backs close enough this year, but it sure seems like Lattimore is one of the most talented RB's that has been in the SEC in a while. He was incredible for a freshmens. I think he is gonna be something special.

1) Lattimore
2) Davis
3) Richardson
4) Bolden
5) Ballard/ Dyer

I'm not as big of a fan of Dyer as a lot of people are. Davis is underrated and Richardson has yet to do it for a whole season. Lattimore is a 17ing grown *** man.

I know you can't go by stats alone, but Knile Davis was more productive in far fewer carries than Lattimore. They ran different offenses, so obviously defenses didn't key on Davis, but I think Lattimore is a little overrated at this point. He was very good, especially for a freshman, but we've seen freshman RBs come in and have success. I just don't see anything extra special when watching him. I think Davis may be the best RB in the conference next year. Dyer will also be extremely good.

1. Richardson- their OL will be better this year too- he will show why he is better than Ingram
2. Lattimore- injuries are a concern with him'
3. Davis- UPig loses 3 starters on the OL, including one of the country's best- but should be ok because of passing attack
4. Dyer- but Aubarn's OL will be very average after losing 4 starters
5. Bolden- will have a big year

Ballard is pretty good, but he will be splitting time equally with Perkins next year

after losing 4 starters on the oline. I would assume that a lot of opposing defenses are going to load the box against AU to make the new qb prove that he can/can't hurt you by air.

I think Ole Miss's lack of Defense will put them in positions to have to throw the ball a lot to play catch up. Ballard's yards may go down becasue I think we'll have more players touching the ball and Perkins carries will go up but I think he'll still get a high number of Touchdowns because he'll be our goal line RB. Off the top of my head I think Bolden and Ballard had very similar yards but Ballard had more TD's, I'm thinking it'll be the same situation next year.

Lattimore should be number 1 for sure.

singlehandedly ended the UGA game by running for first down after first down in the third and fourth quarter despite the fact that every single person in the stadium knew he would be running the ball. UGA just couldn't stop him. He is a truly special talent and the best rb in the SEC and maybe the country. He did get banged up some but its hard to criticize him for that considering the punishment he took.

So is the question, who will have the best season, or who is the best back? Theoretically, the best back would still be the best back even if you put him in Memphis's offense and he could only muster 600 yards on the year.

I see it being answered both ways.

But I placed Ballard over Bolden due to the number of TD's he had this year and what I am guessing he will get next year. Everything else being equal (the Memphisscenario)I'd still put Ballarda little ahead ofBolden neither are super fast but they both have good size and can break tackles. I was very impressed with Ballard's ability to get yards in short yardage situations and his ability to break some great long runs.

They are both quality SEC Running Backs.

after that it gets a little more bunched up. The top 3 would have to be
1)Richardson
2)Lattimore
3)Davis
The order could be debated but those 3 would have to be the favorites going in.

Behind them it gets a little harder
4)Ballard/Perkins - Not sure here due to Sherrod leaving and Ballard having to split time with Perkins. I think Perkins is going to have a much better year in 2011 as Mullen looks for more ways to get the ball in his hands. In fact I would say there's an outside shot that Perkins winds up with more yards than Ballard especially more all purpose yards. With the losses on our O-line I think we will have to turn a little more to screen plays and outside running which better suits Perkins. Ballard will no doubt have more touchdown runs at seasons end and I'm sure he will still get his fair share of rushing yards too. It will be interesting to say the least.

5)Dyer - Take into account the loss of Auburn's entire offensive line, couple that with the departure of Newton and I'm not sure Dyer will look very good at all. There's no doubt he's as talented as any of the backs in the SEC, but no other back will have to deal with the loss of personnel that Dyer will have to deal with. With defenses not having to worry about Newton they will be able to key on Dyer who won't find many holes with a totally revamped O-line. Auburn better find a passing game in a hurry for Dyer to have a shot a putting up big numbers.

Or

5)Bolden - Another tough one to call. One thing is for sure though, Ole Miss will need Bolden to have a big time year rushing the ball in order for them to be effective. While they are not in as bad a shape as Auburn, they will also need to sure up some issues with their O-line and settle in with yet another new qb in 2011. Bolden must find some running room to keep defenses at bay making them think twice about sending the house on every down. Personally I believe Bolden is good enough and will find those seams which is the only reason I will be picking Ole Miss to make to a small bowl next year.

On a side note, while there's no mention of the stable of running backs at LSU in this thread I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see someone have a breakout season for them. LSU is returning a lot of players and will be very good.

There is little to no doubt the SEC West will be the strongest division in college football once again. I believe every team in the west will be bowling in 2011 which should make for some great football to watch during the regular season. Not only that, but all the teams in the west will more than likely be leaning even more on running versus passing. I predict there will be a lot of helmets flying off of players heads come next fall.

Can't wait!

He'll jump out early because of lack of experience at QB and the entire line returning. Ballard will split carries and Relf will throw the ball more next year.
1. Richardson- No split time and McCarron will keep defense honest.
2. Lattimore- Teams are going to be willing to let Garcia try to beat them.
3. Davis - Never has to face eight in the box.
4. Bolden - Entire line returns, will get a lot of yards early.
5. Ealey - If he gets the carries he'll go over a thousand.

if we are going on a production/talent combo:

1-2: Lattimore, Richardson
3-4: Davis, Dyer
5-7: Bolden/Scott, Perkins/Ballard, LSU combo

If we are going purely on a production standpoint, I'm betting it'll look like this:

1. Lattimore
2. Davis
3. Bolden
4. Dyer
5. Richardson

If we are going on a purely NFL scouting type of standpoint:

1. Lattimore
2. Richardson
3. Dyer
4. Bolden
5. Davis/whomever gets the majority of carries for LSU (Ford?)/Ely (kid from UGA)
