These early rankings are a joke! How are we not even in some of them??? I think we have a chance to make the final four.

I think it's just hard to tell when you have 100% turnover from a previous season.
This kind of reminds me of South Carolina. Brought in a bunch of transfers and people just assumed they would be as bad as the previous year. Then they opened the season 21-3. Causing people to them overrate them lol.

Pre-season rankings have never ever been less reliable than they are now in this new mass-turnover era. The rosters of SO many teams have changed SO much that these guys are basically just throwing out wild guesses with these rankings. Nobody really knows how all these new groups will play together yet.
Personally, I really like our roster. How does it compare to the others? Hell if I know. Except for UK, I'm still not even sure who plays for who.

Pope has a brand new team who has never played with each other installing a system from scratch with all new coaches.
We aren't getting ranked until people see us play and we do something.

Again, We need to play wait and see, I will be excited to see this team. I think we will be very good, IF big IF this team buys in, comes together and buys in 100% to Pope, his coaches and what they want to get done. They guys we have are proven winners at all levels, proven on offense proven on defense. Maybe not to the level some want but we have guys that can play. If all comes together, we will be good. Maybe very very good.
Take out Duke in the Champions Classic and I bet people will sit up and take notice.
With Lanier, we'll be preseason top 15-20.
With Lanier and Robinson, we'll be preseason top 10-15.
But if you add both of those guys, my gut tells me we'd be ranked in the top 10 by Christmas.
The pieces would all be there.

Just get a feeling we won't get both. I think we get Lanier, and Robinson stays in the draft.
We have a completely new team, coach and an incomplete roster. Let’s freak out in May because we aren’t showing up in the “way too early” polls.. 
When did they even start pre season rankings this early. We don't even have our tem complete yet. How much can a ranking now mean?
Has UK been ranked out of the top 25 pre season in the last five years? Have they been in the top 25 post season?

All this is just fodder to drive traffic and is generally admitted to be spitballing.
These are not even actual preseason polls but rather speculative lists based on the opinion of the source (or just what they believe will generate traffic) whatever weight one puts on them.

Oh I know he is. That doesn't mean he gets them. Kids make weird decisions.
I've always thought that these pre-season rankings are basically for entertainment purposes. They are usually way off by the second week. I've always enjoyed it (on very few occasions) when our Cats weren't ranked very high, never was a fan of the bullseye on our back!
I still wanna come in under the radar. I'm very stoked n excited with our roster, I'm absolutely loving the veteran experience CMP has assembled. None of us know how these Cats will mesh n how they will perform. One aspect that I'm looking forward to is running more than one or two plays on both the offense/defense. I'm very optimistic and I personally think that we are finally in for some fun this upcoming season, anticipating seeing some grueling full-court pressing, several different zone defenses and more offensive sets than just running a clearout!!
Regardless it's gonna be interesting but so far I'm enjoying the ride and very excited to start the new season!
