If you *really* think about it, success in hip hop is a very complex and difficult thing to accomplish, overall.

It is in 2016, really since early 2K. I try to give a listen to the new guys and give the benefit of the doubt. But the hip hop game has never been as programmed and corporate as it is now, and it's a shame.

It happens in all music eventually. The corporate folk get a grip and are too scared to just say do what you are. Instead they say lose weight, dress like a girl, say this but not that.

And most musicians are so starved by the time they might make they break and do whatever. Those that don't well it's harder to find their stuff but it's worth it.

See I am the opposite. Beats is fine and all, but I look for a rapper who carries the beat, not the beat carrying the rapper. Kendrick is a fine example, same with J. Put them on acoustic or anything and they bring it out. Really only thing that I look for is flow and truth. If you got a guy who is 17, never had a deal talkin bout 250k bling and 500k whips, I immediately dismiss them as fake.
Yo Gotti right now is my dude, with Kendrick and a couple other right there. Gotti has the beats, but I do not think its a certain it carries him.

Same with J Cole, he raps about truths and ideas of how it should be, now I do have a problem with the race card played so much in Hip Hop, but I kind of get it, I never lived it so I do not know truly how much it weighs on the artist who is expression his feelings and lash out so harsh, so I deal with it.

On the flip side, it's easier for guys like Currensy, Action Bronson, or Riff Raff to create their own lane and make pretty big bucks just connecting to their niche through social media. And they can travel the world getting show money. Its a ton of work, but I think it pays off a lot more than back when you were selling CDs out the trunk and playing local gigs in your region.

Shutup Catsfan. That's stupid. Kendrick can rap 19388292 different ways because beats can be made 38293994929399393483883 different ways and if you're great, you're gonna be able to slaughter all kinds of beats. Beats come first in every way. That's a fact. That's science.

NORE released the Havoc of Mobb Deep interview today. Should be amazing. I'm interested because I've heard a ton of prodigy interviews but hardly any havoc ones.

^ correct. Beats and the ability to make a SONG cannot be understated.

As mentioned many times before, look at Slaughterhouse. 4 dope *** MCs on their own, who can't make an actual good SONG to save their life -- instead they just try to out-bar each other. Makes for pretty ****** listening.

Big ole false. Eminem, ****** beats for the most part, Jay, no auto tune, Kendrick, mixes black soul with some rock n roll, merge jazz fusion with some trap music. Look at the best free stylers, no beats needed. Try again young one. Some artist who would try and do what Em, Jay, and Kendrick does, would vanish quicker than a flight from Egypt. Lyrical talent is a must,,, to be a God MC. Beats, while very helpful, not a must. But without a nice beat, you better be great or else. Which the top in the game are, so they thrive on lyrics, not beats. Sorry, but the lyrics come first, without it, you are just another club banging clone with a nice jam. Dime a dozen.

And Kendrick is YOUR guy, and one of the very best in the game. And guess what, his beats is not what he is known for, his lyrics is what got him here. I like Gotti, im honest, I said good beats can make a rapper or help at least. Gotti speaks real, so like I said, fake is what I dislike, not beats.
You can have subpar beats and be great in the rap game, too many guys speak for it, but if you rely on beats more than lyrics, you might be hot for a while, but not long term, most real hip hop fans listen to the artist, not what is in the background.

It's OK. Starts strong, loses steam, but sprinkles in a few gems. Kind of pieced together.

F swizz beats for the most part. I think that guy found molly in early 2000 and never really been the same. Just vibing in his own little weird world and shouting stupid hooks.

I ain't mad tho. Gave me some songs I needed to hear.

You tell me, hoe.

It gets underwhelming. Kind of feels like they added extra songs from past projects.

I don't like Swizz and I don't like Wiz. Gtfo.

I feel like I need a shower after reading any catsfanbg post. It's unbearable.

I ran through Coolaid this morning and it's fine for what it is. Legend and Super Crip are the highlights IMO. I'd echo Mash's sentiments...Wiz is corny AF and Swizz Beatz is pure poop. "Made for the club" tracks all over the record.

I'll likely never spin it again, but 'speck to Snoop nonetheless.

Pac may be dead but his music still competes with this garbage and I've heard it all 1000 times. Still choose his **** more often than anything in the last 5 years.

Mobb Deep was good but they didn't build up enough before doing something stupid.

Not many could have with stood his onslaught before his death either. It's a shame every one thought he was real life ruthless vs other rappers. It was just music......and if BIG would have verbally came back at him on a record it would have been classic.

Too Bad.

This was a 2pac diss

I didn't know

I've made some bad unknowledgable posts in my time, but my goodness how did you not know this was a tupac diss?

This is the one that was closest to getting at Pac. It was legit and if it had come from a more established rapper could have really went in on PAC.

Also why did you think he was squashing them in raps?

This Snoop is really sad and terrible -- not unlike 85% of everything he's done since Doggfather.

Poor snoopy. :(

Snoop wasn't even good on DoggFather. I think 6 maybe 7 of those songs were legit with #20 being the best and only had 1 verse from Snoop.

His first CD was his peak and he is best on cameo's. He is solid when he wants to be but he can not make a whole CD.

Blueberry is the best song on Doggfather, and Snoop doesn't even have an actual verse.

Lmao 2pac >>>> 2010+ Rap

And I won't take any snoop slander. I agree with some of what is said, but snoop is snoop. He an ambassador of rap. He is the Willie Nelson of rap. He is the ultimate business man who has reinvented himself and worked wth all kinds of folks. Get real. How many hits does snoop have?

Well like I said he is best on cameo appearances, sorry if you didn't know.

You think 2010 rap is better than Pac? I'm an admitted Pac super fan nerd, but come on dude. In general rap has been hit or miss for along long time. Every album ever from pac can simply just be played with no skips.

^ Nice, although that exact siren sample has been used over and over again. It's still a siren though.

Go back and listen to 'Streetz is a Mutha' and 'Space Boogie' albums. Far and away his best work, as a solo. Few bangers on Kuruption, too.

I played Dogg Food from start to finish the other day while mowing, man the album is so :fire:

Ran through this Schoolboy Q yet?
