Rappahannock holds off Buffalo Gap in Final Seconds

The Bison had a 32-23 lead in the third quarter, but the Raiders scored on a pair of long runs to squeeze out a 38-32 win. Gap advanced deep in the final seconds but were hit with some penalties and the game ended with a completed pass down to the three yard line. They did not have any time outs and it was not a first down catch so the game ended at that point.

Rappahannock will play Rye Cove next Saturday for the state title.

Hats off to the Raiders, it was a great game even though we didn't win. Back and forth, at halftime I wondered if anyone was going to play defense. I think we were up 24-23 at half. They found a way to clog us up most of second half. We just could not stop #2, he is a stud, very strong. They had multiple good players but, 2 on offense and 5 on defense were the one's that really stood out to me. Either team could have won but they made less mistakes and more plays on Saturday. Good luck to them, I hope it is a good championship game. I believe I heard them and Rye Cove have never won it before, so that is extra special for both teams and communities. Congrats Bison on a great playoff run.
