CJ Uzomah, no receptions in previous 2 games. 3 against MSU including the winning catch.

Ruling on the field was a touchdown? Receiver "pushed" out of bounds?

********. See the video below, (by an aubie, no less). Receiver initiates contact, and in attempting to spin around defender steps out of bounds. The zebra immediately drops his cap, indicating an illegal touching penalty is in order.
But, the ruling on the field is touchdown, instead of the correct ruling, incomplete pass.

Awburn: "where 1st downs and touchdowns are awarded, not earned"

The refs were never, ever, ever, ever, EVER, never legitimately considering overturning that call.
They knew if they did, at best there'd be job openings for a new crew of SEC refs today, if not new job openings and an address to send cards and condolences to.

my issue with that play was our defense. Why was Jiles playing press man as though getting a first down would have lost us the game? That situation should have been played from the endzone forward. NEVER let the guy get behind you. If Jiles is off, no way for the receiver to get behind him. THAT was coaching, not being prepared for the situation.

You're and dubmass. You absolutely play pressman right there...but i think Jiles should have hit him and denied him coming off the ball. We used your method of playing 10 yards off the ball and allowed them to drive 80 yards...**** don't work.

Agreed. Our DB play, along with our coaches, leave a lot to be desired.

My point, exactly.
The ruling on the field should have been illegal touching, loss of down. Then, the replay official would have had to have have conclusive evidence that the receiver was pushed out of bounds in order to overturn the on field ruling.
the rule:

ARTICLE 4. No eligible offensive receiver who goes out of bounds during a
down shall touch a legal forward pass in the field of play or end zones or while
airborne until it has been touched
by an opponent or official (A.R. 7-3-4-I-II).
[
Exception:

This does not apply to an eligible offensive player who attempts
to return inbounds immediately after going out of bounds due to contact by an
opponent (A.R. 7-3-4-III)]
The Rules

you can see from the video, the receiver didn't go out of bounds because of the contact with Jiles, he stepped out when he spun away from coverage. That's why the side judge dropped his cap. The ruling should have been incomplete pass, loss of down.

we have to play 25% better than auburn in order to go into auburn to win...all other things being equal. they get all the calls every year....and when we are at home, we have to play 5% better than auburn...its still not a level playing field. thats the price we pay to play in the sec. higher tier teams will be protected. after living a life of bitching every time we get screwed, i have finally accepted that fact. we simply have to be considerably better and execute to perfection and not give the refs any excuses to throw a flag. they desperately want to give auburn the advantage, we simply have to overcome them and auburn in order to win.

they were holding our d lineman really, really obviously, yet not a single holding call on them. what was their only penalty in the game? 1 for 5 yards....that is on the coaches for not sticking up for the players and also on the coaches for not coaching the players to throw their hands up and spin to draw attention to it. when **** like that goes doen and gets swept under the rug, we should be going ape ****...and when they hit us out of bounds on OUR sideline, everyone should be going nuts, not sitting there with an "awe shucks" look on their face.

uh, **** does work when there are only 10 yards left to gain. Never said it was the right defense on the last drive. It WAS the right defense for the final play though. Your goal is to keep them out of the endzone, not to prevent a completion. Your goal on that play with the amount of time left is just to keep him out of the endzone, nothing else matters. Hell, you want him to catch the ball and allow the clock to run at this point.

Not sure how you can tell anything from that particular video. You can never see the sideline at all ... it's all from about knee-level and above.

That's not to say you're incorrect, it's just that you can't tell from this video.
