Under no circumstances should . . . . .

Coach Mullen relinquish his policy of prohibiting commits visiting OM. Big mistake.

Chris jones? And why not let them visit? It's been said that the kids who go to state really want to be there, so why would visiting ole miss matter if the kid signs with state?

It would be interesting to see us

rescind our offer and see how quickly young he becomes a preferred walk on or greyshirt candidate at UM.

Very little leverage with UM when you have no other SEC offers, are from a UM family, are a MAIS player and a low star rated player.

His other offers are reportedly from ULL and La Tech.

I don't understand why Mullen allows you to visit this board, out of the goodness of his heart I guess.

How's Bo's shoulder doing these days?

If they offer and he flips it is completely

Understandable given his circumstances. The only thing that bugs me is the way ole miss has handled it but maybe they are missing on a guy or two or somebody is headed to juco. Love to have him but life goes on.

Didn't you read the ontological discussion last week? Carried forward, "Bo's shoulder" does not exist. It is a construct we came up with to try and survive.

If he flips....

...then congrats Ole Miss. You got a life long Ole Miss fan to flip at the end after missing out on preferred targets. You are still the recruiting world champion

And yet still the beautiful swing passes...over and over, and over again. I guess it will remain one of the universe's great mysteries.

He has an offer or he wouldn't be visiting.

He and his family aren't that dumb. This is just being played far max impact by ole miss, you got to love those recruiting fanatics.

Doesn't speak well of him or his parents if the truly said the quotes attributable to them, which I paraphrase as we have committed to MSU and we won't flip if Ole Miss makes an offer later.

The "won't flip if ole miss makes an offer later" was never said. In fact this is why most were skeptical. Always, something like er are only concentrating on MSU at this time. The door was always left open and they made sure of it...can not blame them for the way they have handled h the situation.

If we don't pull his offer then it tells me

He has sworn on the golden egg to Mullen that he ain't a flipper.

They claimed repeatedly that the the door was shut not long after he committed.

There's a Jerry Maguire reference out there somewhere.**

Let's be honest here, olemiss sees him as future depth if they even offer him. If not, they would have offered him a long time ago. Now, he might end up going to olemiss and being a first rd. draft choice in three years, but that is certainly not what they think of him right now.

I remember a kid years ago that was a highly touted qb in the state. He signed with usm but was one of three that they signed in that year. He didn't stay more than a week. I asked him what happened and he said that he could tell from the very beginning that he was insurance in case the main guy didn't work out.

If State didn't show more faith in me than olemiss has shown in Rawlings, I could easily go someplace else. That is, if playing were at the top of my list of importance.

That should end well for us**

He may still want to go to Ole Miss and that's fine, though obviously disappointing for us. But I wouldn't be too worried about him visiting. I seriously doubt he's dumb enough to flip his college decision because of some strange one weekend. If he flips, it will be because that's where he wants to be and he would make that choice regardless of whether he visits or not, provided he has an offer.

If you're a hs senior, why would he pass up a fun weekend in Oxford or Starkville. I certainly didn't when I was his age, and I had to pay for it myself and actually work to pick up girls.

I doubt it. Pretty sure he's been planning to sign with OM for at least a couple weeks now, and the OM staff slow rolled it so they could grab some headlines before signing day.

Is what it is..

I must have missed that...because if you read the Scout/247 interviews they say different when the topic of UM is brought up. Along with a thread on 247 where the dadparticipated.

Little difference when talking in general terms and when UM is actually brought up...well, it seems the replies must have been.

Would love to see that one of those repeated quotes...where would I find a couple of them?

Thanks...

I can assure you this is one recruit/family Freeze will keep AWAY from the library and other pervasive recruiting resources.

Then their visit really doesn't have anything to offer. I guess Freeze can tell him personally that even though he was their last possible option, he'll still get a fair shot at playing time?

His family is obviously familiar with Ole Miss and Oxford. There's nothing Freeze can offer as far as facilities, coaching, or winning that would change his mind.

Rawlings may just want to go to Ole Miss because he's always been an Ole Miss fan, which is fine, but if that's the case, the visit is basically irrelevant. All that matters is whether they offer him or not.

Because we give them money and ***** at Ole Miss, since they don't have any of either in Starkville, apparently.

Parents were a little perturbed that they just started recruiting him. Fwiw.
I hate the fact that OM seems to only want him NOW after we have been after him the longest.
Only thing I hate if he flips is the fact that there will be idiots within our fan base that will harass him on social media. This is the part of recruiting that bugs me the most.

Even if he signs with om and I were coach M and his name was brought up in my presence I would just say, "All I can say is he was committed to Mississippi State."

Sean's recruitment has nothing to do with misses as I stated a couple weeks ago. I'm not aware of OM missing on any high school OL, especially guard or centers. OL are just hard as hell to evaluate. Avery's recruitment is a result of some misses, but I want the kid. State and OM are going to be shaking their heads if he ends up at Memphis. I still think Sean winds up at State one way or the other. That's just the feeling I have.

Are you counting Sims as a commit? Sean may be the backup plan if he decides to

go elsewhere. I'm fine if he goes to Ole Miss if that's where he wants to be.

But if you are offering this late, he is a backup plan for someone.

I don't fault Rawlings if he is an OM fan and does indeed switch. If State offered me this late in the game, I would go there in a heartbeat.

Just what I was about to say

If he isn't a back up plan they would have offered a long time ago

I think we were holding

a few scholarships in hopes of getting one of these big national names like Bo Scarborough or Trey Quinn or somebody and when it became clear we weren't going to do so, then we decided we wanted one more OL (besides Sims) and Rawlings was the one that we thought we had the best shot to get. So in that sense he's a back-up plan, but I don't think he's a backup plan for a specific OL--at least I'm not aware of us missing on an OL that led us to offer Rawlings. If Sims commits to Oklahoma or MSU or somewhere else, then that'll be the answer, but I'm pretty sure we want Sims as a G and Rawlings as a C and would gladly take both.
