This is also my conspiracy about the offense: Dana isn't using his playbook, nor his offense. He's using Rhule's/Satt's stuff and not necessarily by choice.I’ve been a little perplexed by some of his chain of play calls. That said, it’s tough for us to know how much of that was a QB audibling. I believe Dana’s hands were tied with Raiola at QB.
Why I subscribe to the conspiracy theory: Rhule already admitted he forced Butler into using White's system and playbook. A system Butler only had 6 months in, and didn't allow him to do his own thing. If he handcuffed 1 coordinator, it is not out of the realm of possibilities that Rhule (a confessed micromanager) has handcuffed Dana as well.
I do remember hearing about Dylan supposedly changing the plays frequently or changing the routes. If those are true too, then that's also going to alter a lot of what Dana would like to do.
I think this is a pivotal year for the offense and Dana. It is year 4 and the offense has yet to be above mediocre under Rhule. If there is not a significant improvement in the offense this year, I don't know how you can justify extending Dana when his contract expires at the end of the year. As a WVU alum, I love Dana. I've seen what his offenses can do. I haven't seen it at Nebraska.
