Re: Polk.

Tulane played UAB today and this was taken from the Tulane board. My son will attend Tulane in the fall and I frequent the board from time to time.

I talked to Coach Polk a little each day; he is a funny guy besides being an excellent coach. He called Seth over to the hack shack today and told him "I know your a good hitter, at least I'm pretty sure of that but I haven't gotten to see it yet......our pitchers keep walking you".

Today I asked about his "middle school sized" SS and 2nd Baseman; he said they cheated on their height listing in the media guide, they're way shorter than listed but that they can play the game (which they can). He joked with my son that all you kids want to lie about their size and asked him how old he was, he told coach he was 13. His response was "Oh, well you'll have enough height to not worry about it" and without hesitation asked him if he ever considered being a MSU bulldog or maybe a Blazer. My son didn't know what to say. I told him, anybody who is willing to sign him he'll take it!

Re: Polk.

Considering the circumstances of his departure, I thought some might appreciate his off-handed comment. Nothing more.

Re: Polk.

His actions were terrible and I think he realized that after a week or two. Since then he has talked to both Byrne and Cohen to make up and sew up relations with the University. We all say stuff that we don't mean when we get angry and Polk was a classic example of this. After being in charge for so long it was hard for him to take it when he didn't get his way. To an outsider the comments scream seperation from him and the University, but you don't realize that they have both since made up. His comments to your son (if I understand them right) are not suprising to me at all. He will always love state.

Re: Polk.

And that statement directly contradicts every public statement he's ever made since Cohen was hired. As far as I'm concerned the further Ron Polk is away from Starkville the better.

According to Polk he has not talked to Byrne since the day of the Cohen announcement. But yeah, he and Cohen talk a good bit and he still loves MSU...prolly won't ever speak to Byrne again.

Re: Polk.

Man ole man, "it ain't how you start but how you finish" and RP failed in the worse way by saying "I think I deserve to choose the next baseball coach for Msu". No one is bigger than the University and like Frank Melton use to say "And that my friends is the bottom line"!
Polk was my all-time favorite coach but now I wish they would take his name off the CF wall until he retires for good!
